Inked & Awesome - Lara Warner

Name: Lara Warner.
Age: I'm 20.

Website: Facebook

How old were you when you got your first tattoo and what was it?

I was 18 when i got my first Tattoo. I remember the exact date too; 21st August 2010 because it was 5 days after I had my daughter. I got her date of birth in Roman Numerals on the side of my wrist, I wasn't to pleased with it as the artist that did it was apprenticing and one of the characters is wonky. (I later added her name to it.)

What is your employment status/occupation and do your tattoos effect it?
Currently I am a stay at home mum, my partner works though. I have tried to find a job, even had a few interviews but never got any further than that. I'd like to hope my tattoo's had nothing to do with this but there's always the possibility as i have 3 on one arm and one on the other...

What is your favorite piece? What is the meaning behind it?
I don's particularly have a favorite piece. I love all my tattoo's and the all have meaning. The most meaningful one to me it the script on my right arm. I was sexually assaulted and went into a really dark place while i was going through the court case. But I came out of it so much stronger in the end of it all and this tattoo expresses that. It's the one i always look at when i feel down and think to myself 'If i can get through that i can get through anything.

Do you have a favorite artist who you go back to or do you collect different artists work? Why?I have two. Emma Atkinson and Davie Wright. They both work from Elemental in Alnwick. Its Emma's shop and since the muck up with my first tattoo i have only ever allowed her to tattoo me. When she got Davie in I trusted her opinion and got tattoo'd by him, he did an amazing job on a beautiful Rose on my shoulder blade. And I'll probably stick with these two artists.

Have you faced any specific discrimination due to being tattooed?
I've been told that I'm a bad mother because of my tattoo's. Someone actually said to me "Its disgraceful, how would you feel if your daughter covered her arms in pen because she wanted to have tattoos" all i did was laugh. When i go to get tattoo'd i take her with me. Once or twice she has even had a stencil drawn u and put on her arm, she loved it! My tattoo's are not wrong and do not in any way effect my parenting skills, if anything they will help my little girl to grow up treating people with tattoo's the same ans anyone else instead of being narrow minded.
