Inked & Awesome - Stephen Mills

Name: Stephen MillsAge: 34
How old were you when you got your first tattoo and what was it?
16 and it was the prince symbol O{+> .

What is your career/employment status and does being tattooed effect it?
I'm a qualified computer technician and yes having visible tattoos and piercings has kept me from getting a job.

What is your favorite piece and why?My full back piece which consists of a 12"x12" Newcastle United crest surrounded by portraits of Newcastle  United Football players like Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn, Peter Beardsley, Super Mac, Gazza etc.
My next favorite piece is a portrait of my Dad who I lost when I was 14. I got it in the center of my chest so it's placed over my heart.
My final favorite piece is a full sleeve which covers my hand and arm. It's a piece that has 4 pieces of artwork in it all by Anne Stokes and represents the 4 elements.

Do you have a favorite artist you go back to or do you collect different artists work and why?
I used to be a collector from different artists, but now I will only ever get tattooed by John Quinn from The Tattoo Zone in Wallsend, Newcastle.
Have you faced any discrimination as a result of being tattooed?
Yes I have been discriminated against. Particularly whenever I have my head tattoo on display people of all ages cross the road to move away from me or stare at me, it is actually very down putting and uncomfortable.  I have also encountered employers asking me to grow my hair out to cover my neck and head tattoos as well as people looking at me and branding me a thug because of my tattoos and piercings.

Any other comments (including if you plan on getting more etc.)
I am always planning my next piece! My plan is to be fully covered except my face and in unnameable parts lol
