Instagram, a previous 'currently obsessed' feature on this blog, is for me no more.
Yes, after hearing in the latter part of last year of the photo sharing app being bought out by social network giant Facebook, it was only a matter of time until there was a huge upset.
The long and short of it is, unless you deleted your account by the 16h of this month all non-private accounts photos will be under copy write threat. Whether you are a photographer that shares their work or a general photo taker posting photos of your shoes, food and the like Instagram has the right to sell your photos to third party companies for adverting without any type of credit to you.
Personally, I think it sucks!
Although its obviously a slim chance that your photo will be picked, they are still unprotected. They have ruined what was a brilliant mobile photo sharing community. I am a photographer and although the majority of my photo stream was personal photos taken on my phone I still despise any type of photo theft.
So anyways, as of the 1st January, I no longer have Instagram!
It was a pain in the bum to do too! As no where on the android or iPhone app could we find a 'delete account' option. You either need to sign in to their actual online website on a laptop or access it through your phones internet browser, its pretty simple to find once you're there. I found this too though [Click here] which is pretty cool if you have lots of sentimental photos that you'd like to keep. Just follow the instructions on screen and it will automatically download your whole photo feed into a folder. Very handy.
To end this post and my instaLife here is a montage of some of my 300+ instaPics!
