'Earth Hour is the single, largest, symbolic mass participation event in the world. Born out of a hope that we could mobilize people to take action on climate change, Earth Hour now inspires a global community of millions of people in 7,001 cities and towns across 152 countries and territories to switch lights off for an hour as a massive show of concern for the environment.'
I'll keep this short and sweet as I'm aware alot of these things bombard you with facts, numbers and quotes. All I want to say is it's no secret that the way we live is heavily effecting the state of our world. Our world that belongs to many other organisms and species than just us - we need to mend our ways and help preserve these habitats so that beautiful creatures, plants and more can strive and be enjoyed for many, many years to come.
Earth Hour 2013 is for people worldwide to participate in, however if you are like me from the UK you can visit the UK Earth Hour website to find out more and sign up to be a part of it!
Can you believe that David Cameron dubbed Earth Hour as 'A huge symbol of global solidarity… An inspiring display of international commitment.' That's for all those who dislike our Prime Minister.
It's awesome also to say that my country has taken part in this fabulous event since 2008! And in 2011 even famous landmarks and buildings such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament showed their support by turning out the lights.
Make sure to visit the Earth Hour Worldwide map to find out more about green goings on in your country!
