Inked and Awesome - Matt Johnson

Name: Matt Johnson
Age: 22
Website: Heartbreak to Inspiration

How old were you when you got your first tattoo and what was it?

I was 19 when I got my first tattoo and it was a cross with wings around it. It also has has mum and dad written either side.

What is your employment status/occupation and do your tattoos effect it?

Well here's a story -
I work for Caffe Nero and it has never really been an issue to have the tattoos aslong as they can be covered up! But, as of the new year they have scrapped the rules and you are now not allowed any neck, face, or offensive tattoos. Face and offensive I agree with, but neck I'm not too sure...

What is your favorite piece? What is the meaning behind it?

My sleeve is my favorite piece just for the simple fact the whole thing is based around my Nan who sadly passed away after fighting cancer for more than half of my life!

Do you have a favorite artist who you go back to or do you collect different artists work? Why?

Well most of my tattoos have been by my friend. I'm his Guinea pig lets say haha! But I would like some other artists work!

Have you faced any specific discrimination due to being tattooed?
In the coffee shop that I work, some of the older customers ask questions but not really discrimination. 'Did they hurt?', is the main question, my reply 'No not at all just a tickling sensation!'

Any other comments?
I cant think of many comments just keep pushing for tattoos to be accepted into all areas!

  1. That's a lot of tattoos! ...he's cute though. ;) And my age!

Anyways, I like his interview. It's fun learning about the stories behind people's tattoos.
