It's My Life - The Hunt for My Six Pack.

Once Upon a Time in a not so far off land lived a girl in tip top shape - six pack and all. Sadly, a series of unfortunate events led down the road of no money to attend sport classes, dwindling motivation and eventually a tubby tummy. That girl is me!
Yes it may be hard to believe but
I did  indeed train in Judo and Jiu Jitsu and take pride in nightly yoga. It's a long road to having carved calves and chiseled abs but I was flexible and muscular with strong lower body muscles and felt so healthy. Since life changed (just before I started this blog) I had to quit the classes and obviously couldn't afford to go to the gym or anything. For a while I battled with outdoor jogs but I just can't get my body to cooperate with them and from then I kind of gave up I guess. Things have gone steadily downhill and my heart condition as well as the fast approaching summer has finally kicked my head into gear that I have to get back into shape and I'm going to attempt the fast popularity growing workout video - The 30 Day Shred.
Along with a small group of other bloggers, the month of May will be the starting point to me eventually being able to return to training when we move house and even in a couple of years, compete.
I have been doing the 30 day squat challenge and am almost half way through which is preparing my cardio and warming my muscles for the 30 days of 30 minute workouts which will no doubt leave my wasted muscles in shock.

Now warning, below you will see some images of the current problem areas. I don't want anyone who may think 'a size 8/10 girl doing the 30 day shred, pft what for?!' mouthing off or feeling that I think I'm fat therefore thinking less of bigger girls. All I'm saying is I'm used to being in a certain shape and am not comfortable in this body therefore I'm taking steps to correct that. If you feel you are fat - do the same. There is no point moaning to people about being fat if you have no intention of changing it, after all the only way to get stuff done is to get up, get out and get it done!
Anyways, to continue - below each photo will be a short explanation of my goals.

Kicking off with the upper body. I like my collar bones and shoulders, lower arms and especially the hourglass shape of my hips. However I don't like my upper arms and lower abs. My goals are to tone up my arms and obviously re-tone the abdominal area where the little podge has started to appear.

And the lower body problems reside in my inner thigh. You may be able to see from the left hand photo that I still have quite alot of definition in my calves, that's from all the walking we do with little Mr Baker, so I'm happy enough with them (even if the huge muscles make getting a well fitting pair of jeans a pain the bottom). I'd love to be able to have the confidence to wear little shorts in the summer and even if the photos don't look that bad, my thighs need toning up desperately.

I'll leave you with the list of my exact measurements and hopefully see you again at the end of the month, looking and feeling a minimum of 30% better! ;)

Bust - 36"
Waist - 30"
Hips - 36"
Bottom - 40"
Thigh - 24"
Calve - 15.5"

  1. I give yo a lot of credit for putting yourself out there and placing pictures and your measurements up. Go for it! Train hard and eat right and I am sure you will hit your goal!


    1. Thanks! I don't have any friends nor do I really socialize with anyone so I couldn't care less what people think about my body! haha I'm pretty lucky to have the body I have but I just want to push it that one step further and get back into fitness. :)

  2. Good luck on your 30 day shred! I can't wait to see your results! Ever since I graduated from college, it's been harder to keep the weight from slowly piling on because of course, when you get older, metabolism slows down and I can't just eat whatever the heck I want anymore. And I've been trying to find the most efficient ways to work out and tone up but I'm still working on that haha anyways, I'll be looking out for your updates on this! :D

  3. what is this 30 day shred!! lol i must get on it!! hmm.... hahaha i might have to join you two on this one... i did start the 30 day squat challenge last month.. but it kind of got interrupted by my trip to hawaii T-T i really do want to be in tip top shape too though.. especially because i used to be a lot more fit also. i hate hate hate that i am not flexible anymore!! ughhh makes me sooo sad, so i know how you feel. best of luck to you guys! i'll look into the 30 day shred and maybe join you!

  4. Haha, I'm working on a six pack as well! I've been doing exercises pretty regularly (but without pressure or real schedule) and I am definitely making progress.

    Your challenge sounds a lot tougher though, but I'm sure you can do it and get into the shape you want to have.

    Also, I just logged into the Better Blogger Network again and saw you left a sweet note for my birthday. Thank you! And yes, there were some lovely owls in my gifts;)
