Inked and Awesome - Liam Parker

Name: Liam Parker
Age: 19
Location: Scarborough, UK.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo and what was it?
I was just 16, I had stretchers in my ears and my mother hated them so much. So she bargained with me and said I could get a tattoo if I took them out - so I stuck by my word and I got an anchor on my leg. I was shocked at the pain, I thought it was going to be worse than it was!
What is your employment status/occupation and do your tattoos effect it?
I work at a nursing home and,
fortunately for me, in this kind of work image is nothing. Its what type of person you really are and if you actually care for the people you are looking after. I never feel judged for having tattoos as alot of the people who work there have some, maybe not quite as many, but still!
What is your favorite piece? What is the meaning behind it?
My favourite piece is one I had done quite recently, on my inner forearm of a woman my tattooist designed quite a while ago and I asked him to save it for me. I'm so glad he did!

Do you have a favorite artist who you go back to or do you collect different artists work? Why?
I have 18 tattoos, some are by terrible tattooists and home jobs, simply because I wasn't old enough to go to good tattooist's but they are all on my legs. My arms are all done by the same tattooist, at King Arthurs in Scarborough -  Nick Mayes, I would recommend him to everyone!
Have you faced any specific discrimination due to being tattooed?
Many times! The one I remember the most, which got to me quite a bit and I was fairly angry about, was when I was waiting for my partner and a woman with 2 kids (around 4/5 years old) came around the corner, she wasn't holding there hands or anything but as soon as she saw me she grabbed both of them and rushed past me. I don't know why it got to me so much, maybe because I want children and don't want them to be scared of me! Ahah, if only she knew I work 8pm till 8am looking after ill people.
Any other comments?
Tattoos are artwork, not all of us have been to prison!
