Countdown to Disneyland // My Shopping List

1,209,600 seconds,
20,160 minutes,
336 hours,
14 days,
2 weeks.

Its only a fortnight until D-day and the hype is getting higher! Imagine a kid a Christmas that has had too many sweeties crossed with someone who hasn't seen a loved one in many years - that's me right now.
We have our Euros, the tickets are en route, hotel and trains for Newcastle are booked and the bags are next in line. One thing missing from my travel organizer however, was a shopping list. I thought I'd share it with you while putting it together if that's okay?!

1. A Christmas Decoration - A now yearly tradition in our house (well for me anyway 'cause Jake strongly dislikes Disney) is getting a new Disney Store Christmas decoration with the year on. I thought that this year it would be cool if instead of getting it from the Disney store, I could get one at DLP making it extra special!

2. An Engraved Necklace - Last Disney visit, one of my most sentimental souvenirs was a personalized necklace with my name and the year on it. This year I want to get a very similar one but obviously with 2014 on it haha.

3. Autograph Books - Duh! Last time I filled up my first one at light speed hence the pluralization. Oh and if you saw my last countdown post you'll know I'm a character hunter and will most certainly make use of them straight away, so this will be our very first purchase.

4. Collectible Coins - As shown above.

5. Limited Edition Soft Toy - If you know me, like really know me, you know I like anything different to what others have and am a big lover of anything limited edition and Disney combined. In 2010 I was so lucky and excited to nab the most beautiful Steam Boat Willie Mickey  [third along on top row] and he needs a friend!

6. Disney Parks Pandora Charm - My Pandora/Chamilia is very special to me containing gifts from my parents and Jake of mainly Disney charms so THESE had better blimin' be at the Paris park too because why is everything usually only for America!?! Argg.

7. Halloween themed ..something! - Well we are going at Halloween time and I love the Haunted Mansion. Maybe a photo frame... I suppose I'll just have to wait and see what there is and you will have to wait and see until I come back and do a haul post.

8. Ears - The most obvious one. I had a huge Minnie Princess hat and a piglet headband in 2010 and remember the struggle of choosing just them. I see so many people with sparkly Minnie ears and the like but as you've just learned I don't like to have what everyone else has! I'm really looking forward to picking out my 2014 head gear with my Mam :)

9. Pins - I don't participate in pin trading or even collecting. I just like to have yet another momento that shows the date as well as the hotel I stayed in. I really don't know why I only bought one hotel pin last time as I also stayed in the Disneyland Hotel for part of my stay. Maybe one day I'll convince Jake to go and we'll stay there and collect that pin! Can you guess which hotel we are staying in this time...?

10. Gifts - Not many as I've saved hard for the little spending money I do have and haven't really anyone to buy for anyways. Jake isn't bothered, the bah humbug he is but I want to fetch him at least a little something back as well as something for my amazing Dad. And Baker!!

There we have it. A little hint at what you can expect to see in a little haul post when I get back. I have saved my pennies in a tin all year and as this trip is for my 24th birthday, the worlds greatest Dad has added to the pot too.
At first I'd planned on carting back a load of homeware goods to scatter even more Disney through out the house but after sitting down and working out what I really wanted I think that a) I wouldn't be able to afford it and b) probably would have issues travelling back with anything too big, bulky or breakable seeing as we are flying this time.

Thanks for reading this little mini series guys and for not telling me to just shut the heck up about it all. I haven't had a holiday for 4 years and Disney is a huge deal in my life, so its a big thing for me.
Look out for the last Countdown to Disney in the coming fortnight!

Weekly Wondering // Week 51

I found this set of questions, '365 thought provoking questions to ask yourself this year', last year and bookmarked the webpage. After having rediscovered it I am answering 7 of the questions each week  until I complete the year.

357. When was the last time you felt lucky?
Everyday lately when I'm sat in this beautiful house, walking along the stunning river with my amazing dog, having such awesome parents and a truly perfect partner.

358. When did you first realize that life is short?

Goodness knows the first time but I think about it everyday. It makes me feel guilty when I have a lazy day of doing nothing.

359. What is the most insensitive thing a person can do?

The most insensitive? There are too many things to be able to pick just one! Anything that takes advantage of something that a particular person is most self conscious or worried about is always upsetting and uncalled for. This is too broad of a question to answer in this way haha!

360. What can someone do to grab your attention?

Shout my name?  lol Just joking. I'm not sure, it's pretty hard as I usually live in my own bubble and am oblivious to anyone around me. Maybe just be an exceptionally good person. Be the one that helps when no one else does.

361. What do you usually think about on your drive home from work?

I don't 'work' and I currently don't have a car so your question is invalid.

362. What’s one downside of the modern day world?

That there are no neighborhood communities anymore. Well proper ones. These days you have to make sure everything is locked up and secured, keep yourself to yourself and have those curtain twitchers who want to know what everyone else is doing.

363. What simple fact do you wish more people understood?

That there are alternatives to animal testing - use them!!!

The Autumn Tag!

While over visiting Lulu's blog for a read I spied this cool tag and because my feelings towards the season have somewhat changed I thought, what the hay, I'll give it a bash! Makes a change from overloading you all with photography posts! haha

1 - Okay we're talking coffees - what's your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?
First question and we're already failing! I don't drink tea or coffee, like old readers may already know. I also am a big anti-fan of Starbucks as I think it is over priced an just another american trend that has been adopted over here.
So long story short, hot chocolate. :)

2 - Accessories - what do you opt for scarf, boots, gloves?
I'm not great at wearing gloves as I always need my hands for something and they hinder my judgement, the only shoes I really have are skate shoes/trainers and flip flops and I have alot of scarves but nothing too trendy, just desert scarves!

3 - Music - Whats your favorite music to listen to during autumn?
I'm pretty sure people's music tastes don't change just because of the season...I suppose I can't talk for everyone though.

4 - Perfume - Whats your favorite scent for this time of year?
I'm actually not a huge perfume wearer. Surprised? I think not! I whack on deodorant, bundle up and spend my time just walking the dog and exploring with the camera so I don't think that Baker cares what I smell like.

5 - Candles - What scents will you be burning this season?
I have three wax tarts that I've been burning that are all Autumn/Winter scents but don't ask me what as I can't remember. haha I love candles in general and usually just stick to vanilla year round but this is when the berry-style tarts come out.

6 - What do you love most about Autumn?
I'm usually not a fan, because it means that 'Winter is Coming' and I don't like being cold or snow hindering my plans to leave my house. BUT for some weird reason (maybe the fact that we have a nice house for a change and a multi fuel burner to keep us warm) I'm totally into it this year and am loving all the DIY decor I have planned!

7 - What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
GOING TO DISNEYLAND YEAHHHH BOOIIII!! haha If it wasn't cool enough that I'm going back to Disneyland in general, we're going at Halloween time. I cannot wait to take a gazziilliiioonn photos of all the amazing decor and seasonal costumes and just everything!!! :D

I tag YariGemma, BeckySarah, Leona and Emma. :)

How to: Dressing Disney (Part 2)

A few weeks ago I was very excited to be asked to provide a guest post for Beth of Little Miss Disney while she was to be busy away getting hitched and going on honeymoon (guh, jealous!), I was so happy with the post I provided for her that I thought it a great idea to definitely do at 'part 2' of it and so here it is.

Jessie Hair Bow

Donald Duck
DC Tinkerbell Wrap Braclet
Black Hair Bow with Anchor Detail

Fringe Ankle Boots
Linen Spaghetti Top

The thing with this mini series of inspired 'Disney' outfits is to make something actually wearable that has a hint of the character that maybe other Disney nuts could click with - not to
copy the outfit completely. I think I've created mood boards of clothing that can be easily (affordably) purchased, is easy and comfortable to wear and still incorporates some elements of current trends that some people may find appealing. I'd love to know your thoughts! Which outfit would you wear, if any?
Make sure to check out the post I did over on Beth's blog, it included outfits inspired by Minnie Mouse, Snow White and Mary Poppins!!!

My First Up-Cycling Project

I dunno where the obsession started but once I had it in my head that I wanted a rocking chair, I didn't give up until I got one! Obviously it was gonna be pretty hard to find one that matched my tastes and so I was up for the challenge of a bit of an up-cycle project.
After asking around someone suggested putting a 'Wanted' post up on a local Facebook selling page and a couple days later someone let me know that our local Salvation Army had one in for only £25.00.
After a little 3 and a half mile, predominantly up-hill, trek, Jake bought me it.

It wasn't pretty...far from! And it needed a lot of love, with a broken arm (unable to see in photo) and lots of marks, but who could complain for £25!!

I started of washing it down and beginning the sanding by hand, until my hand was nearly dropping off! So my fab Dad popped down to Argos, got himself a new electric sander which he kindly lent me and 3 days, alot of elbow grease, sand paper sheets and white spirit later it was ready to stain.
Or so I thought. The wood 'stain' I used ended up being more of a paint and instead of soaking into the wood, coated it with a sheen. Yeah, I was a little disappointed to begin with though after a few coats and seeing it in it's new setting I think it's worked out okay.

Trial and error is always the way. All this chalk paint and pastel wrecked antique furniture everywhere actually upsets me so at least I managed to save one piece from being trashed completely! Looking forward to my next project...

[ See more photos HERE and HERE

What do you think? Have you done up any pieces for your own home? If you have I'd love to see what you did with them! (Unless you're an Annie Sloan fan...just kidding :P, each to their own afterall.)

Weekly Wondering // Week 50

I found this set of questions, '365 thought provoking questions to ask yourself this year', last year and bookmarked the webpage. After having rediscovered it I am answering 7 of the questions each week  until I complete the year.

350. What is the number one solution to healing the world?
If we knew that surely that question wouldn't need to be asked.

351. What could society do without?

Alot of things. Alcohol and drugs - behavior and personality effecting substances are the main thing I wish didn't exist and I'm sure it would eliminate many problems within society if they were none!
(Unpopular opinion but hey ho, the world would be a boring place if we all agreed)

352. What stresses you out?

Ask Jake and he'd say 'everything'. I'm working on being less stressy. I hate being in a rush, or being rushed. Then again I get stressed out if people are being too slow or taking up room in the supermarket and stuff and then I rush past... Contradictory or what?!

353. Now that it’s behind you, what did you do last week that was memorable?

Hurt my knee!! haha I'll milk it as long as I can 'cause it hurt but some people assume I'm just exaggerating. I was filming Baker running to and fro with my phone on our walk along the river when he misjudged his route and crashed right through my leg taking me down like one of Lyoto Machida's famous foot sweeps! Damn it hurt.

354. Where do you spend most of your time while you’re awake?

In our back living room watching Netflix, editing photos and blogging or pottering around the rest of the house cleaning and such.

355. What makes someone a hero?

Someone who goes the extra mile to do the right thing and think of others above themselves.

356. When in your life have you been a victim of stereotyping?

Uh, for real?! Alll the time! In school I got it from bullies and chavs labeling me because of my dress sense etc, in work I got it because I wasn't as social as other and didn't want to drink and party and now out and about some people see tattoos and think they know who I am before I show them who I am.
The world is full of stereotyping. It always will. No matter who says that they don't judge a book by it's cover, everyone does, it's human nature to judge upon first impressions - which are usually the cover of the book.

Exploring Berwick // The Lowry Trail

Since returning to my hometown and now being a permanent house wife (at least for now), I've enjoyed doing things I don't usually do and seeing things I haven't seen before around Berwick.
I've thoroughly enjoyed spending some quality time with my childhood best friend aswell and this day in particular we finally had the weather to do something we've had planned for a while; the famous Lowry trail.

For those who don't know, L.S Lowry was a famous English artist, and although not from Berwick Upon Tweed he visited alot and depicted many scenes from his visits in sketches and paintings between the 1930s and 70s. His works are shown on information boards dotted about the town and although I have seen most I've never walked the route in it's entirety.

So my friend Claire, Baker and I set off on our little journey last Thursday. I took a photo at each point to prove we had been there and 4 hours, 8.8miles later we had completed it! Enjoy the photos.

I have to admit the artwork isn't my cup of tea, but he was a famous man and his work was well loved and it made for a great day. I recommend it to anyone visiting Berwick, especially those with dogs as it's a purposeful and fun day out that obviously allows dogs with it all being outside!
Along the way there is the beach by the Lowry shelter to visit, maybe you might even be lucky and spot the dolphins off the end of the pier. You go through town and also get to see the historical walls en route, as well as visiting Spittal beach with it's little arcade and cafe.
Claire popped into the Granary Gallery (that is currently showing a Lowry exhibition we plan to visit when Jake is on dog duty) before we started, to pick up a map which made things way easier and although a couple of the pieces are a little difficult to locate it just adds to the entertainment!

Does your town have anything like this art trail? Is it something you'd be interested in doing? Let me know in the comments!

Countdown to Disneyland // Meet and Greet Wishlist

2,246,400 seconds,

37,440 minutes,

624 hours,

26 days,

3 weeks (rounded down)

Whhhaaattt since when was it less than a month until we go to Disneyland?! We booked the holiday back in like January or something and when I thought it would take ages to come around, the year has flown and it's almost time. That makes me slightly sad because the sooner we go, the sooner we'll be back. I swear I'm hardly going to sleep when we're there to make the most of being back in the home land!

For this countdown post I thought I'd take the time to sit and think about the characters that I'm gonna stalk this time. Mwhahaahaha!!!! Not really. But on my last visit all the way back in 2010 I meticulously planned out where we needed to be at what times so I could meet the characters I wanted to.
This time around there will be different people to meet, some that I may of not gotten a photo with last time as well as some that I want new photos with. Here is a list of the characters I'll be making a B-line for!

Aladdin and Jasmine - I didn't get to meet these guys as they were ushered away just as we were walking up to them and like when I met Woody and Jessie, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum etc, it's cool to get them as a couple!

Baloo - According to information websites, Baloo is a regular however I didn't spot him in 2010 and can't remember meeting him in 1996 (although I can't remember yesterday, let alone being 6!) I recon he'd give good hugs!

Rabbit and Piglet - To complete my Winnie the Pooh and friends set it'd be awesome if I could get an autograph and photo with Rabbit and Piglet! I met Winnie, Tigger and Eeyore in 2010.

Snow White - The only Princess that I'm overly bothered about meeting, is my favorite one of all. While in line waiting, she also done a runner and swapped out with Cinderella. I wasn't as stoked to meet Cinders but after waiting in line for almost 2 hours I wasn't gonna just leave. This is a photo too, however, that will need replaced as I wasn't in it alone.

Mr Penguin - From Mary Poppins. Another I'd love to hug...although almost impossible to see this visit as he's only present in the Disneyland Hotel predominately. Wish I'd seen him when I stayed there last time!

White Rabbit - Because I love Alice in Wonderland - duh! With it being during the Halloween season this time around the Queen of Hearts aswell is likely to be knocking about...I'm too scared to meet her though.

I'd also love to experience the amazing times I had with Minnie, Mickey and of course Stitch again as they were so fantastic, and Jack Skellington is the main Halloween character I hope to get a glimpse of!

There we have it, that's my most wanted list I guess! Who have you loved meeting in any of the Disney parks and who would you most like to meet?! Are you excited for my Disney posts?? I may only be gone 5 days but get ready for a whole heck load of photos. :P

Project 52 // August

Oh gosh darn it! When putting this months post together I realized I've totally messed up with this series. I haven't failed or anything, I just was silly enough to not think about some months having more than 4 weeks...anyways I've rectified the previous months if you'd like to check back and see any photos you may of missed.

And here is my August in photos...

Weekly Wondering // Week 49

I found this set of questions, '365 thought provoking questions to ask yourself this year', last year and bookmarked the webpage. After having rediscovered it I am answering 7 of the questions each week  until I complete the year.

343. How do you deal with isolation and loneliness?
Very well. I have few friends, I don't go out much and enjoy my own company. Although usually I have at least someone for company, Baker for example, I have had times where I have been isolated and managed just fine. That's what reading is for.

344. What do you know well enough to teach to others?
Nothing. That's a little depressing... ha

345. What’s a quick decision you once made that changed your life?
The choice to move back to Berwick. It's where I grew up, went to school, got bullied (severely) and was in an abusive relationship for a long time. When I left I never thought I would ever come back. With the situation in Newcastle growing worse by the day we had to come up with something and somehow everything fell into place. I am so lucky and thankful to be where we are right now.

346. What have you lost interest in recently?
Not extremely recently, but I used to be big into MMA. I had front row seats at UFC 120 in London and met some of my favorite fighters at the UK's first expo. I even had a press pass to photograph an event. However a combination of us having time without tv or internet a couple years back, along with the drastic increase in popularity of the sport meant I lost touch with the I haven't seen an event for a long time.

347. What makes life easier?
Free time. Time to take in the world, walk, breathe, think. Time to spend with loved ones, be it just watching a movie or going out for something to eat. Appreciate the people and things you love and remember how good you have it - focus on the good things in life!

348. What was the last thing you furiously argued about with someone?
Oh goodness knows...perhaps Jake with the whole 'what's for tea' fiasco!

349. What job would you never do no matter how much it paid?
There are a few. Working within any type of food/service industry would probably be the worst because I'm so grossed out by peoples eating habits and how dirty some people can be...blurgh I feel ill thinking about it!

Another New Kingdom

Two or three weeks ago now Jake and I headed out for a Sunday walk with Baker, heading for what would become our current walking route. I snapped away - the whole day. Just like usual.
Then we moved house and had no internet access for a whole 5 days! During that time I edited these photos, put them in a folder and apparently forgot all about them until stumbling upon them tonight (well Wednesday night as I'm writing).
I was too happy with them, which is rare, for me not to share them and to introduce to you another, hopefully our last for a long time, new kingdom.

It took alot for me to take those photos of the butterflies, ask Jake how much I was cringing while shooting them haha and since this day I've had two so called 'injuries' whilst walking our daily route. Baker lost his favorite (expensive!!) ball and as I spent agges combing the barley for it I ended up being bitten which turned nasty resulting in an A&E visit due to my not being registered with the doctor yet! Pft.
This past Tuesday Baker ran full pelt into my knee, knocking me down into a muddy puddle and I couldn't move for like 10 minutes! I eventually pulled myself up and hobbled home but these events are putting me off venturing too far along the river alone anymore haha.

Hope you enjoyed these photos. I look forward to showing you more of Berwick Upon Tweed!
