Christmas Traditions Tag!

The 3rd and last out of all the Christmas posts I got tagged in this season and I want to thank Miss Oh! Leona for including me in her list of tagged people. Check out her awesome answers!

1.When does Christmas start for you?
It's different every year. Though it's strange that this year, as everyone has gotten so hyped earlier than usual that it's taken a little longer for it to feel like Christmas for me.

2. What is one Christmas movie you must watch?

I would say Home Alone but I'm pretty gutted that we neither have in it our big DVD collection nor is it on Netflix! I'll just have to hope that I catch it on TV in the coming week. Anyone know if/when it's on?!

3. Do you bake a Christmas cake or buy one?
Neither! Not my taste, nor is trifle or mince pies. We get chocolate gateau or Vienetta. :)

4. When do you put up your Christmas tree?

As close to the beginning of the month as I can. Just like Halloween, I love decorations and I like to make whatever month the holiday is in a whole month of said Holiday. After all, what's the point of putting up the tree and stuff just to take in down 2 weeks later?!

5. Do you have a real or fake Christmas tree?
Fake, for a couple of reasons. I don't know exactly but say it cost £25, that means I've paid that for many years of use as apposed to more than that every year for a real one; the practicality of buying and transporting a real one for us = not very easy and then there's the mess of pine needles and disposal at the end of the poor trees life. I actually feel really sorry for all the trees that get chopped down and stuck in houses...though that's me who still keeps soft toys etc in groups or pairs for fear that they'll be lonely when they 'come to life'.

6. When do you start playing Christmas music?
I don't. Over the last 5 years or so I've listened to alot less music altogether and we don't even actually own a stereo/CD player.

7. Do you use the same Christmas decorations each year or buy new ones?
Oh goodness, most of you should know the answer to this! We don't have a money tree!

8. How do you spend Christmas Eve?

We used to go round to a family friends for nibbles and I'd watch Santa's progress online then put out the reindeer food with the kids but the last couple I've been working. This year I've no idea but to be honest I don't care. A film and my two boys would be great,

9. Advent calendar or no advent calendar?
Advent calendar! We have a wooden house one with little drawers that you fill yourself and although we couldn't actually afford to get any chocolates to put in it this time around, I put Baker's treats in it instead! :D

10. Do you leave a snack out for Santa and his reindeer?

Sadly not, Santa doesn't come anymore after you grow up. A certain Mr B seems to think he doesn't exist either and thinks you shouldn't lie to children so unless I can work on him, any of ours will be missing out on alot!

11. How does Santa get into your house?
Down the chimney is you have one, if not he has a magical key that works on any house!

12. Mince pies, yay or nay?

No. I only eat chicken meat wise and I don't like pies at all!

13. Snowballs, eggnog, or mulled wine?
None! Haha This tag has become rather predictable. I'm soo fussy and also don't drink alcohol so alot of Christmas goodies are a no go for me.

14. What scents remind you of Christmas?

Gingerbread, peppermint and wild berrys.

15. How do you spend Christmas Day?
Like I said about Christmas eve it's all changed in recent years. When I still lived at home the morning would be bacon sandwiches and gifts, then my Nana and Granda would come up for dinner, followed by colapsing on the sofas to watch the Queens speech which Dad and Granda would fall asleep.
We lost Granda a few years ago and it's never been the same, especially with me living in Newcastle. However this year I am back in the hometown and it'll be my first year having everyone around my place for dinner! I'll let you know how it goes ;)

I now tag the following:

Don't feel any obligation to take part, I know it doesn't fit in with everyone's blog genres and I'm not sure if everyone celebrates it but yeah, it's all a little bit of fun.

  1. Hahaha! I love how you're just like no, no, no for some of these questions! Fight the Christmas, Danielle! ;) Don't like the drinks or the pies either so wooo! Baker seems to be enjoying his advent calendar. Have a great Christmas, you three, and hope you have a fab day! xxx

    1. I know I seem like a right grinch eh?! haha It just really never feels like Christmas these days anymore.
He loves his advent calendar! Goes over every morning :)

Thanks Dee. Hope you and the family have a fabulous one yourselves.

  2. Whey, my first tag! I was agreeing with you on so many answers. Don't like Christmas cake, mince pies, trifle etc.

    1. Woohoo! I hope you do it! And to be honest, I really don't know many people who do like mince pies or Xmas cake! haha

  3. Omg, love this post so much! Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday. I totally agree that we like to put up decorations and our tree and everything asap! I also keep my stuffed animals together so they don't get lonely. SO glad I'm not the only one to do this hahah. Good luck having everyone over for dinner, I'm sure it will be amazing and can't wait to hear all about it! :D

Chowing Down by the Bay | I’m on Facebook now!

    1. Oh my gosh, no way?! Aha That is awesome! I think it's what Toy Story did to me as a child :P
Thanks so much, I'm spending today cleaning the house top to bottom especially for it!

  4. Awww, I love this tag - oh and I haven't watched Home Alone in years, I'll have to dig it out again and your advent calendar is so lovely :)

    1. It's quite a good one eh?! :) It's been a year or two for me too - I need to find it on somewhere!
Thank you :) Next I think, Mam got me it.

  5. Mr. B doesn't like the idea of telling the little ones that there is a Santa Clause is a bit that too Scroogey of me? I've had that conversation with my bf--will we tell our future kids that there is a Santa? I don't think we's just heart breaking to find out that you've been lied to by your parents years later. I don't fault anyone who chooses to go along with the lovely idea of there being a jolly man who is magically able to deliver presents world wide. I wish I could buy into it whole-heartedly but I can't. Christmas is about family and food! :)

Thank you so much for tagging me!!

    1. Not Scroogey of you at all! It's nice to hear someone agree with him actually - a very good take on it all :)

  6. Thank you for the tag!! I'm glad somebody agrees with me about having the tree up for the whole month! I put all my decorations up last week of November then I really get my use out of them! xx

    1. Woohoo! Though I have to say I hate it when they come down and everything seems so bare! haha
