The Christmas Tag

Here we go guys, with yet another festive tag post! A big thank you to my lovely friend Amy for tagging me in this one. Make sure to pop over and check out her post here!

Taken Jan 14th 2013 by Myself in Blyth, Northumberland.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
A log cabin in the woods - preferably Keilder. I love it there, despite having only visited once. I'd just love to be in the middle of nature, around no people except my family and be warm! haha I bet you're surprised I didn't say Disneyland...but how could I be without my Baker B at Christmas?!

Favorite Christmas movie?

Like I mentioned on Monday, I actually did a post a year or two ago with my Top 5 Christmas Films, have a peek at it!

Are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list?
You tell me. I would say the nice list though.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Probably. We often get snow here, maybe not every year like clockwork but we have had a few times during the winters.

Where do you usually spend your Christmas?
Up until I was 21 I spent every year at my parents. In 2011 I moved away and had my very first Christmas in my own house and as I worked right over the seasonal period we didn't make the drive up to my Mam and Dads until boxing day. The last couple years have been the same but this year with being in our hometown my parents and Nana will be coming here for lunch.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
I've never really understood this tradition. I mean, Christmas Day is Jesus' Birthday, Birthdays are usually when you get gifts. I dunno haha but my answer is no, I've never opened anything on Christmas Eve.

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Blitzen, Cupid, Comet, Donner and Rudolf. The only one I cheated with was Dancer as I counted them up and knew one was missing after reciting this to myself

What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?
I think probably just seeing Baker open his gifts and have his Christmas dinner. Just like how kids make Christmas what it is for people who have them, my animals have always been the highlight. Bunny was particularly amazing on Christmas and I'll miss him even more on the day.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake and only about 3-4ft. I'd really love a real one, however they never seem the right shape to me, or full enough and the needles get everywhere! Maybe next year we'll get a bigger tree but probably still just artificial. It's more cost effective too obviously 'cause you can use it each year!

Hands down, what's your all-time favorite Christmas food and Christmas sweet treat?
I'm a super boring, fussy eater so nothing special. Chocolate gateau?

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Be honest? I always am! And in all honesty I'd rather give gifts everyday of the year. There is nothing I need and it's so much fun to put thought in and pick out super cool gifts for other people. My favorite thing to do though is stuff like Operation Christmas child and package up food and blankets for animal shelters. Best feeling in the world to help someone less fortunate.

Does your family have a special Christmas recipe you like to help make?
lol, no.

Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I could do it as a profession!! Joking, but I LOVE it. Best part of the season and I hate people opening them because it ruins all my work. :P

Most memorable Christmas moment?
Hmmm. It's almost impossible to pin point a specific moment. Actually, memorable doesn't necessarily mean good so I'll tell you about last year, which was very memorable indeed!

We were working all through Christmas with only Christmas day and the 28th or 29th off. We knew that the holidays would be pretty mental in our building with the people who lived there but like normal, kept ourselves to ourselves. However, on Christmas Eve, the 50 odd year old guy who lived in the flat above us started with his stupid metal music blasting at around 9pm, banging our heads for hours to come. We tried to go to bed but by 3am couldn't take the noise any longer and Jake decided ti just go knock on his door and politely ask him to turn it down...

That was a mistake. He answered his door, baseball bat in hand, by screaming that if Jake came to his door again he'd 'smash his skull in'. (For the record it was the 3rd time in about 6 months of weekly musical torment). He proceeded to chase Jake down the stairs bashing him in the back of the head, neck, back and shoulder and even break a hole in our front door after Jake had managed to run in and slam it in his face.
I rang the police, the came and arrested him and took our statements. He was then released again after having been at the station for less than 3 hours. We had a very scary and all around rubbish Christmas day and that I will remember for years.

What made you realize the truth about Santa?
What truth?

Do you make New Year resolutions? Do you stick to them?

Looking back at this post and realizing I haven't done even half the things I wanted to should be your answer.

What makes Christmas special for you?

Just having a quiet day, eating something nice and watching something good. Simplicity is key. I'd also like to stay in my PJs all day but I never have.

  3. Awwww the bunny is soooo cute! Sorry that's basically what I got from this :P Just kidding! I'm all for a fake tree as well! Surely it's more environmentally friendly. And I can't believe what happened on that horrible Christmas! That's terrible that they just let him go as well! Ridiculous!

    1. I have so many cute photos of Bunny - I miss him so much!
Definitely with the environmentally friendly aspect, just 'cause it's Christmas doesn't mean we need to murder countless trees. And yeah, it was a pretty poop Christmas but this year will be better. :)

  4. The photos of the cutie animals is adorable! I always give me dog loads of gifts and he opens them with his mouth and paws and it's equally entertaining as it is cute! If I was asked if I was on the naughty or nice list I would have to ask them to define naughty, haha! All of these Christmas tags I've been reading over the past few days are making me feel sooo festive!

Oh and it was pretty awful but yes, we are in a completely opposite type of neighborhood now so this year will be better.

  6. I have a small fake tree too - but to be fair my flat probably couldn't take a bigger one and a real one might be a bit of an issue to get up the stairs hehe!

How much do you charge for your present wrapping skills? I have a nasty habit of buying things that are difficult to wrap and most the time they turn out looking like nothing on earth!

Oh and you're so on the nice list!

    1. haha Yes, I can imagine it being quite the Laurel and Hardy moment trying to get a real tree up the stairs to a flat :P
£2.00 per gift! lol I think difficult shaped gifts funnily wrapped are one of the best things about giving gifts haha.

Aw bless you, thanks! You would too.

  9. What a terrible Christmas memory!! I would have been so incredibly uncomfortable. Living in apartments has always been a struggle for me due to neighborly misconduct as well, but it's never been an issue during Christmas thankfully

    Loved your post!

  11. I'm late replying to this but thanks for the tag! :-) I completely prefer giving gifts too and we used to do the Operation Christmas Child boxes at school. Haven't done them for a few years but my workplace does a 'wrap-a-present-for-the-homeless-shelter' thing which we always donate several things to instead. xx
