Weekly Reflections // Week 11

 December 15th - 21st

Favorite Photo.

Top Thankful or Happy Moments.
♥ Sun on a frosty day.
♥ More kind people making me blush after their Underland to Wonderland calendars arrived.
♥ 3 swans flying right over head while we played at the park.
♥ Bakers Christmas hamper from his Granny finally arriving!
♥ My Xmas decor looking pretty cute.
♥ Having fun playing at the field with Bman and his ball.
♥ Spending time with Claire.
♥ Making Happy 'customers'. I did some basic blog designs for a couple friends and they liked them :) (What do you think? Tanya's Tea Party  and  Genius vs. Beauty. I know I'm no pro but it's just to get them started.)
♥ Visiting our landlady and seeing her beautiful new flat.
♥ The crow that was perched on the end of our extension roof watching me do my make up.
♥ A local supermarket gave away boxes of advent calendars to the place my Mam works, so I got 2 Minnie Mouse ones!
♥ Being nominated for The Versatile Blogger Award by Meghan - thank you!
♥ Mammy and Bakers winter walk through the rose gardens.
♥ Pizza night for Jake and I after not seeing him all week! (He's been on nightshift.)
♥ Wrapping gifts and doing DIYs.
♥ And last but no way least the amazing act of generosity I (Baker) received from the beautiful Leona and her lovely little Rex. Knowing that we struggle for money and wanting Baker to have some new Christmas toys she sent us some from our favorite online pet store Barks and Bunnies (with the sweetest note might I add) that made me cry all day! I can't say thank you enough. What a surprise!

Question of the Week.

To you, what is the true meaning of Christmas?
Being an atheist, most people would think that it's hypocritical of me to celebrate a Christian holiday and I agree that those who are complete atheists, with no knowledge or who give no recognition to the origin of the holiday can sometimes be slightly materialistic. Unless, however, you use the holiday to celebrate something else. Because I do not believe in a 'God' I like to say that Christmas to me is a holiday of celebrating my family - especially seeing as in the UK we have no such holidays as Thanksgiving etc - and making sure to spend time with them and let them know how much I appreciate them with gifts. (We don't go overboard with gifts in our family.)
I do though, and will if I ever have children, respect and remember the fact that in certain religions they celebrate this day as Jesus' birthday - it's why it exists and no matter anyone's personal opinions I am sure the whole world could at least appreciate the love and beliefs that certain people have.
You don't need to be Christian to wish someone a Merry Christmas, nor a Jew to wish someone a Happy Hanukkah and so on. Don't be offended if someone wishes you well, just say it back...it won't harm you and I'm sure your God would appreciate your kindness to your fellow man.
What ever you believe, have a great holiday and all the best for the new year.

At this point I'd usually welcome you to share your happy moments of the week as well as answer the question of the week, but this week I want to say that I as much as I respect everyone's opinions I really do not want any kind of hostility, argument, hate etc regarding religion or my answer above pretty please. Any comment showing any of those nasty traits will simply not be approved. Keep it kind people. Merry Christmas.

  1. Looks like you have the perfect space for that lovely Christmas tree :) Baker looking gorgeous in the snow...Stella hates the silly white stuff getting on her fur!

Glad his parcel arrived before the Santa Paws sleeps ran out!

& boo hiss to anyone that tries to leave a nasty comment. I so celebrate baby Jesus but I know Christmas can be different for everyone and you've expressed your view on it eloquently as usual. A more Christian attitude than some my lovely x

    1. I do! I've always wanted a house with a bay window and now I have it :) Usually home to my rocking chair, that's been put into the other living room while the tree is there. I'd like to get a bigger one next year too.
Aw thank you, thats puppy Baker in 2012, he loves playing in it...but hates rain.

I know, phew! I messaged them and it turned up that night so I think the courier had been slacking!

And that means alot to me that you approve of my attitude towards it all. Thank you! :D
