My Bucket List 2015 Update

Well this post is far more than overdue... I put my first ever bucket list post up in April of 2012, then an update of it in April 2013 where I changed some things that I didn't want to do anymore, but since then there has been nothing! Oops!
Inevitably I have changed in the past two years and so I am, yet again, writing an updated bucket list!
Here are 50 things I want to accomplish in my lifetime, as well as the things I've already done.

Top 5
In Progress

1 - Skydive.
2 - Be employed by the Walt Disney Company in some way.
3 - Get all of the tattoos I've had planned.
4 - Own a house in the country.
5 - Raise and train a Border Collie.
6 - Walk the length of Hadrian's Wall.
7-  Get Jake to go abroad.
8 - Travel First Class.
9 - Ride a horse.
10 - Go on a super long road trip.

11 - Travel to all 7 continents.
12 - Have more of my photography published / sell my work.
13 - Be the best housewife ever.
14 - Stay alcohol free for the rest of my life.
15 - Learn to cook properly.
16 - Work on a farm, if even for a day.
17 - Become semi self-sufficient. Solar/wind power, grow own food etc.
18 - Go on a Snowboarding holiday.
19 - Get back into a good fitness routine.
20 - Find out more of my family tree.

21 - Walk over hot coals.
22 - Do some proper rock climbing.

32 – Ride in a Hot Air Balloon.
33 – Go on a proper camping trip.
34 – Visit Alcatraz.
35 – Have a 'Lost' style experience on a desert island. (Maybe minus the actual plane crash though.)
36 – Improve my skin.
37 – Climb a massive tree.
38 – Travel on a boat to the US.
39 – Save a life.
40 – Meet a real life pirate.

41 – Make my own homemade ice cream and bread.
42 – Visit the Harry Potter attraction in London.
43 – Stay with that one special person forever.
44 – Fire a gun.
45 – See Animal Testing abolished completely worldwide.
46 – Get my teeth straightened.
47 – Keep updating this blog regularly with interesting posts.
48 – Climb one of the Worlds Top 10 mountains.
49 – Stay overnight in a haunted house.
50 – Organize my own charity event.

I'm quite surprised to see how many I've actually been able to 'tick off' so far! What makes putting this together harder for me is remembering that I can't (won't) fly on an aeroplane again...which makes getting to some of the places I want to go pretty hard. I hope I'll be able to make maybe one trip to the US in my lifetime and if I do it will be via boat. That means I'll have to be there for like a month so I can fit in all the places I want to go :P

Do you share any of the points in my bucket list? Share you lists in the comments below so I can be nosy and steal your ideas :)

Baker's 3 Year Update!

To say this is overdue is an understatement.
On Wednesday Baker turned exactly 36 months old! That's how parents of children say it isn't it? In months. I've never understood that just say 3 haha.

I wanna take this opportunity to thank all of you who wished Baker a Happy Birthday. Some people don't understand the way I treat him and the fact that he is my version of a child. So when people took the time to tweet and say Happy Birthday to Baker, my dog, it meant an awful lot!

Until the video of his birthday goes up on Saturday (tomorrow), I thought I'd share a few photos of him from the past few months as well as an up to date account of everything to do with, well, him! Mannerisms, likes and dislikes and more. Have a read and get to know my babyman :)

Peanut Butter
Soft Toys
The Beach
Playing 'gotcha paw'(You know the game slaps? Kinda like that but gently, on the floor and touching the other ones paw/hand or moving it out of the way before the other does it.)
Chasing his tail
Sleeping in late
His Daddy patting his head
New toys
Going in the car
Raw carrots
To sit on the window sill and watch trains

Being told he is an owl or frog
Getting called Charles
Cats coming near his house
When you say he is 'Prince Charming' (He prefers Princess Baker)
Not having his cage when in comes to na-nights time
Dogs running up to him
Getting his nails clipped
Being asked if he wants a knuckle sandwich
The Argos Advert

Paw/Hand Shake
Other Paw
High Five
Roll over
Can get a particular toy that you name
Knows his left and right
Talks on the phone
Is great at jumping and catching his toy
Finds you and barks for attention when you shout 'help!'

'Huffs' (Like a sigh but usually when you tell him he can't have something and stuff)
Glares at you if you sneeze or burp...
...Though he burps louder than a person
Walks over to his treat tin, then looks from it to you until you say no or get him one
Sucks/licks his blanket to fall asleep
Brings you his toy if you pretend to cry
Always goes for the biggest stick even when it's too heavy to carry
Will chase the sun around the house even when he's too hot
Belly flops into the sea/river
No matter how many toys he has, he always wants the one that you are holding
Won't sit on the ground outdoors, has to sit on my knee

So the past two years I've put together a post all about little mans birthday, which as you may of realized is on National Dog Day! You can find photos and video from Baker's 1st birthday here and although I apparently didn't do a haul of his gifts last year, there was a special Dog Day post with photos for his 2nd birthday here. Of course I had to document this year too!
So it's a long story but because of everyone's work commitments (snore!!) we had to do the gift opening etc on Friday the 21st so that Granny, Granda and Daddy could all be there. Here is what he got!

Whenever an occasion arises I use it to order from our favorite place ever - Barks and Bunnies (are you sick of hearing about them yet haha) . They are amazing. From the sweetest ever, most personal and caring customer service to an ever expanding range of everything I could need for little man, all from great brands that are good for him and reputable. Oh and not to mention that as soon as the box arrives Baker knows it's a forage box and can't wait to delve into it.
What was in his box?
Red Dingo Star Lead to match the collar he got for Easter.
Kong Cuteseas Whale
Pet Stages Orka Triple Dental Links
Anco Chew Roots
Antos Cerea Hedgehog x 2 (he ate one as soon as he opened his gift haha)

And we were very grateful to be gifted an extra lovely box of Lily's Kitchen Organic Bedtime Biscuits which are perfect as Mr has a treat every night  when he gets into bed. Baker say's thank you very much Albie, Kizzie, Libby, Chuzzlewit, Amy and Leigh!

As for his extra bag of treats, these we're things that I couldn't help but grab when in town and at the garden center. It included -
Wagg Dog Gravy
Chicken (Raw hide) Crisps
Tippin Treats Interactive Feeder Toy
Super Flyer
Giraffe Ball
Hessian Dog Face Flyer
Bakers Jumbo Meaty Twist

And finally, that's it! I hope this wasn't too much dog talk for you and that you're still actually reading ;) I'll leave you with a video of him opening his gifts! Thank you again to all who sent birthday wishes <3

Exploring Edinburgh // The Writers Museum

The Writers Museum - a one for all you literary fans out there. This hidden gem really is just that, and although we knew it's location...we still had a mini mission to locate it.
Set back off the road, up a set of stairs at Lady Stair's Close, Edinburgh, The Writers Museum is in a astounding building that actually dates back to 1622!!!! If that isn't enough reason alone to visit it, then the fact that it houses items that tell the stories of three of the biggest names in Scottish literature Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson, sure is!

[This post is another photo heavy one. I went a little overboard getting excited at every little item I saw...although I have to say I'm not the biggest literature fan, more so history. This was my companion for the day, Claire's, heaven!
Please also be aware this was way back in March, therefore photos were taken on my old camera and suck :P]

As I said, the building itself is amazing. The 'house' itself is named Lady Stair's House, named so because of  Elizabeth, Dowager Countess of Stair, an early 18th century owner and it now belongs to the city of Edinburgh after being gifted in 1907.

As you walk up the steps from N Bank Street there is another little nod at Scottish writers in the form of quote engraved flagstones! There are a whole range of these, by many different writers and not just those featured in the museum. They are apparently added to frequently as well.

The cool thing about this museum is it just feels so personal. Being in a super old building, the rooms are small and cosy and the items on display aren't just books and the like. Over three ( I think) floors, which are navigable via a pretty cool stone spiral staircase, there is everything from household furniture items and personal possessions of the writers to first edition novels and stunning paintings.

From a place I didn't even know existed to a place I'm so glad I visited, I have to highly recommend this trove of absolute treasures to all fans of the featured writers or literacy.history in general. We were lucky enough to be there when it was super quiet and were the only guests! Although it obviously wasn't a requirement - I felt like I had to whisper with it being so quiet haha Have you ever been in a situation like that before?
Anyways, hope you enjoyed this! Let me know if you've been here or if you didn't know it existed until now so I feel less oblivious and ignorant :P

Underland2Wonderland Quote Art Prints!

Way back in May (May!!) I wrote this post announcing the opening of my Etsy store. At the time I was selling home printed cards of my photography and had an okay response from people...however to date I have only sold ONE pack.
No matter! If something doesn't work - fix it, and so I introduced a new item to my store that started out super popular. I don't like to be one of those people who constantly plug and spam my store on social media, so I decided that I'd write a little post on here so anyone who may not know what the heck I'm waffling on about, can see for themselves!

Here are my Disney inspired quote art prints!

Featuring some of the amazing quotes, inspirational sayings and motivational words from the wonderful world of Disney, they also feature a tiny peek of my vast range of photography - mainly from the magical land of Disneyland Paris!

I asked a couple people who I know have some of my prints to write a couple of lines on what they think of them and here's what they said -

''Danielle's prints each capture the characters and the story lines perfectly, and the designs make them work well as both wall art and gifts. As soon as I saw them I knew they would work perfectly as wall decor to match a piece of artwork my friend had done for me. If you're a lover of Disney, you will love these too.''

''Bought this for my friends little girls new room and it looked gorgeous in a black frame definitely buying another for myself! ''

''Mine came yesterday and I love them! I NEED more!!!''

''I absolutely loved the print, the quality was so good, the paper was thick and the print was glossy. I love that you offer a custom print option, this means I'll definitely be ordering more in future! The price is also amazing, I have no issues with paying these prices especially when it's such good quality! There's not much else to say really aside from your store is pretty amaze!''

However, it seems the majority of my orders have come from completely strangers, which is so cool, but I don't have many reviews from them. I have posted orders out to places all over the UK and even to Virginia in the US!! Yep, I ship worldwide, yo! :P haha

I have a bigger selection than just those shown in the photo obviously and currently the Disney line includes 11 different quotes, which I will continue to add to over time. Another cool thing however is that if you have a certain quote you'd like and I don't actually have - just request it! I can make it up and post it to the store with no obligation for you to buy and no extra cost. Yay!

Don't worry if you aren't a Disney fan, I can cater to any (most) things that you  may like, so get in touch!!

You can find my Etsy store here. Please do let me know what you think.

This weeks word is - Effort both ways. In terms of friendships, relationships and the like of course. I have often been the person to put all the effort in, be the organizer of the group etc and when that happens you know the friendship isn't meant to last. Why would it if the other parties can't be bothered to put the effort in? Both ways! I am lucky that the people I have in my life at this age are the ones that matter. They do their part and I do mine. :)

[!] Knocked Up

Question of the Week.
Would you rather have the best house in a bad neighborhood or the worst house in a fancy neighborhood?
The worst in a fancy neighbour hood. We have had far too many issues living on poor estates with horrible, horrible people, so I'd feel a lot safer being in a good area where we could work on improving the house than the other way. I'm sure most people would..?!

The Love / Hate Tag!

Probably the last person to get round to this tag, I was actually tagged by one of my favorite bloggers (and best support/commenters!!) the awesome Renee at Lose the Road and am obviously, finally getting around to fitting it into my schedule.

I make it sound like my 'schedule' is oh so important and busy, but in fact I'm just a super organized and particular person where my blog is concerned! For example, when I go away on a day out usually I take photos and/or visit enough places to make at least 3 (usually more) posts out of it...I still have a heck of a lot posts to get up from as far back as March believe it or not haha.

Anyways, let's avert that tangent before it goes completely out of control...

List ten things you love and ten things you hate.
Tag 10 other bloggers to do the tag next.

Pretty simple eh? Let's start.

1. Appreciating and talking about weather.
You'd think I was a pensioner if you only knew my hobbies and interests.

2. Counting all the species of birds I pass on my short walk to work each morning.
See above. haha

3. Falling deep into the wizarding world every time, no matter how many times I read the Harry Potter series.
Maybe minus this. Do you know many old people who love Harry Potter?

4. Exploring with Baker when there is absolutely no one else around.
Me being socially anxious and Baker being rather timid when it comes to other dogs on walks, means that we appreciate our walkies time a lot more in the winter for example...when most people stay indoors.

5. Being able to share experiences like going to Disneyland, as an adult, with my best friend, my Mam.

6. Reading and replying to blog comments.
I make little to no money from this blog, have not done a sponsored/paid for/review post in years yet spend a vast percentage of my time doing blog related things (editing, drafting, tweeting etc), so when I get comments from amazing people who have actually taken the time out of their day to tell me they enjoyed something, they liked my photography or tell me something about them I adore it!! I'm so greatful <3

7. Filming and photographing the little details in the world, that most people may walk right past.
If only I could make it my living ;) Just kidding!

8. Making food / Growing plants from 'scratch'.
I'm no far. But the satisfaction I get from seeing my pansys grown from seeds flower and sit down to a hearty bowl of soup, is pretty good.

9. Living with a man who laughs at my amazing humor.
I know I'm not funny but when I manage to make Happy McStinky crack a smile I know I've said something remotely humorous.

10. Not having many friends, but having good ones.
Never really been the popular type, or one to hang around with a huge gang of people. After leaving school you realize who your real friends in you meet other people who share more interests with you while you explore the world. The ones that you pick up along the way and end up staying are the best ones to have. I'd say I have maybe 4 'proper' friends that I get to hang out with semi annually haha. Despite that I can still message them and have a chat like I saw them yesterday.

--- --- ---

1. Littering. It's probably something that bugs me the most out of anything in the world. Smashing glass and leaving it on the street? Think that it might cut dogs paws. Dropping sweets/chewing gum? Ever though that birds will try to eat it, choke and die? Fishing line, plastic drinks can holders, tin cans, crisp packets? Animals can get stuck in them, cut by them, suffocated by them! PUT IT IN A BIN OR TAKE IT HOME YOU LAZY POO HEAD.
[See more information about how your selfish littering effects pets and wildlife here]

2. Drivers who don't indicate. Whether I'm driving or being a pedestrian, I cannot actually read your mind and tell where you are planning to travel to. Please let me and other people stay safe by using the skill you should have learnt while learning to drive.

3. The smell of coffee.
No, I don't like tea or coffee. It isn't a big deal like some people seem to think.

4. People who use the fact that they have issues in their life as an excuse to down on others.
I was told in school, by teachers and councilors who dealt with me during hard times, that the people who were causing my life to be a living hell were only doing it because they had 'family issues'. I know quite a few people from broken homes or myself who had a terrible time in high school, yet we don't take our bad times out on other people. Going through bad experiences is NO excuse to tear apart other human beings.

5. (Obviously) any form of animal abuse, neglect, hunting, over breeding, over working, rubbish ownership etc etc.
If I have to explain any of that then you must be new here.

(Have a photo of some properly cared for animals and one I rescued :D)

6. Noisy of children crying and screaming.
A well know fact is that I am not a fan of children. But what is up with the ones that constantly scream/cry (with no tears!) for no reason?

7.  Rude people who judge you based on age or looks (like my tattoos!!)
Ever been followed around a shop because you're a 20 something with visible tattoos? I have! Ever had someone stand, rather than take the last seat on the bus next to you because you dress a little different? I have! These among other things are the reasons I started Inked and Awesome and Who Do They Think You Are ;)

8. When Jake asks me to make his dinner but when I ask him what he wants, he answers with 'I dunno'...

9. (I am super struggling at this point, so thank you to AJ for linking this post for inspiration) The whole 'follow for follow' world.
Don't be so in-your-face rude as to follow me, wait for me to follow you and then unfollow! Just follow people you actually like or are interested in! That's what I do. I only unfollow if someone truly offends me or annoys the poop out of me by RTing stupid things 10 times in a minute.

10. Those people who have done everything you have done but 10x better...apparently.
You know what I mean? Like I did a Skydive for charity and when we were telling a family friend, instead of saying well done or whatever they were like, 'ah yeah? I did one over Australia, backwards, while DJing a wedding for two Kangaroos!' Maybe not that extreme but you get me yeah?

My Life in Photos // Jolly Average July Day

Another month down...

1 // I walk up these steps every morning for work (usually back down too but not today as you'll see), isn't it crazy how light it already is at 6.15am?!
2 // Today instead of going straight home from work I was meeting Mam and Dad for breakfast, so had to wait in town for them to get off their bus.
3 // In our favorite Cafe having a catch up before seeing them off on their anniversary trip to York.
4 // Recognize this place? It has featured in a 'My Life in Photos' before and is pretty magical, especially at this time of the morning.

5 // After a brilliant long walk home with a random old lady who I'd got talking to about her stunning rescue greyhound, alll of these guys were waiting for me to have a chat. ;)
6 // Sofa snuggles and some Sons of Anarchy with my two boys, before the biggest one went to bed after being on night shift!
7 // My washing line often looks like a Disney advert.
8 // More housework :D

9 // Google Hangout time with Mam and Dad.
10 // Baker get's to have the peanut butter jar once I'm done. (It's just the very dreggs and a plastic jar, don't worry!)
11 // The activity that took up most of this day, which is quite common, was blogging!
12 // It's that time again - bedtime. Our bedroom is full of woodland animals too <3
Oh, and they are winter PJs but they're Bambi ones so I can do what I want ;)

Make sure to link your day in photos post in the comments below! See you next month...<3

Inked and Awesome // Rachel Bradford

Name: Rachel Bradford
Age: 25
Occupation: Marketing Manager

Tell me about your very first tattoo.
My first tattoo was done on my 18th birthday (good girl I know) after I promised my mum I would wait til I was legal and go to a reputable tattoo studio - I ended up in the one she used. It was a little calligraphy R on my ankle. It took about 20 minutes, and I sank my finger nails into the chair I was sat on! So glad I decided not to have acrylics done that morning. At the end, everyone in the studio sang Happy Birthday to me! It was a great first tattoo experience.

Do your tattoos effect your job, have they in the past?
Currently, no. My boss is super relaxed, and as I'm not really customer facing it's not a problem - however I do cover up for events as I deal with business professionals and CEOs.
I used to have to cover them in a previous job, then they relaxed the rules, and again I only covered for client meetings and large professional events. Working in PR and Marketing means lots of back office work so no problems.
When I worked as a Bar Assistant Manager/Supervisor they almost came in handy as I had a full sleeve and the customers seemed to really like them and would love chatting to me about tattoos. Plus no one ever crossed me - must be the stereotype - and the large security staff!

What, if any, discrimination or bullying have you encountered due to being tattooed?
I've been very fortunate and not experienced any really bullying or discrimination for my tattoos. However I've always understood that my tattoos were my choice and unfortunately there aren't any discrimination laws so I have to be able to cover them for my career.

Are your friends and family into body modification too? If not what do they think of yours?

My husband is as covered as me - with a full sleeve, both ribs and a full back piece. In fact, we met through tattoos!
My mum likes tattoos but doesn't have quite as many, though she loves seeing the photos of my new ones as I don't get to visit home as much as I would like. Pretty much everyone is really supportive and loves the work I have, even if they have their reservations when I started my first sleeve.
Show us your favourite piece and talk us through it.
This is such a hard question!
Currently my favourite piece is probably my new swans. They were done by Georgina Jurd at Intense Colours, Bitterne, Southampton - I had two sessions of four hours to have it completely. This one means quite a lot to me as the swans are to symbolise my home county Buckinghamshire. Swans also mate for life, so I waited to have them done until after I got married -for life!

I also adore my Belle thigh piece from Dani Green - she creates the most amazing lady faces in her own unique style. I love that my belle is so disney, but also so different from everyone elses! Plus I sat for six hours!!! Major deal for me!

Which tattoo of yours has the most meaning or sentimental-ness behind it? Do you think all tattoos should have meaning?

I have two really meaningful tattoos.
The first is my grey rose and 'Gordon' in script on my foot. This is for my Grandad, and was done on the 10th anniversary of his death. He was a huge part of my childhood and I'm gutted he hasn't been around for so much of my life. He was a truly inspirational man.
The other is 'Mum' on my wrist. I had this done just before I left to go to Uni. She's my inspiration in life. All I ever wanted was to make her proud, and the tattoo was a reminder as to why I was doing all the things I was, going to Uni, travelling, working, to make her proud and show her that bringing me up, despite being hard at times due to family circumstances was worth it and I appreciated everything she has ever done for me.

I don't think every tattoo has to have meaning - some are just pretty and show what you liked at a certain time of your life - that's enough in my eyes. Tattoos just tell your story.

Are you planning anymore?
Yes - certainly.
I've got a cover up planned for my shoulder blade as I have moved on with my style now.
And I want to have my legs covered - long way to go!

In one sentence what would you tell someone who asked, 'Did it hurt?' ?

Yes and no. It's more uncomfortable than painful - and it is 100% worth it in the end (so long as you have a good tattooist!)

Leave us with some words of wisdom regarding body modification.
Research. Never copy or steal. Admire. Learn. Tell your story.

A huge thank you to Rachel for not only sharing her wonderful tattoo story with us, but for stepping in last minute! If you don't already follow her, pop over to her lovely blog Illustrated Teacup and show her some love!
If you are interested in participating in this feature, feel free to pop me and email over to with INKED AND AWESOME in the subject line! I look forward to hearing from you.
