Astonish. This is a name you're gonna wanna remember as it's on the up and up! Thankfully.
Rewind to about two years ago and when I lived in Newcastle. I was working for Poundland at the time and me being the cleaning freak daughter of my OCD cleaning mother, jumped for joy when I spied a little leaping bunny upon a tub of oven cleaner! (It's like finding a needle in a haystack finding cruelty free household products!!)
Then we moved back to Berwick and while picking up bits for our new places I spotted that Home Bargains had a couple of items from this brand too. I was excited and loaded up on them.
Over the past year I have picked up every single Astonish item I've seen in store, whether I needed it or not, both to try them and 'just in case' seeing as it's quite rare to come across not only a 100% cruelty free brand but something that is extremely affordable too!
I look forward to placing an order online for some of the things I really want that aren't in my local stores but until then, I needed to tell you all about the range I do have...
So here we have a quick run down of the products I have and what I use them for. There are a few so get ready. Steady? Go!
Anti Bacterial Cleaner - I use this for cleaning hard surfaces from my kitchen counters to the base of Bakers cage (as it's safe for use around dogs which is brilliant!) it works well as a powerful cleaner, leaving the surfaces shining.
Oven & Cookware Cleaner - The product that started my obsession and something that works amazingly well! If I'm right in thinking, it's won awards and I know people that used to come into the store I worked at just to buy this because it works so well. I personally use a damp cloth to scoop some out of the tub, gently apply a thin layer of it on my hob, leave it for a little while and then wipe it off with a clean damp cloth. Its amazing!
5 in 1 Dishwasher Tablets - I was eyeing these up online after moving into this house and having a dishwasher of my own for the first time ever. I was excited as I hate washing up but was in two minds as I know the main brands out there are not CF. You have no idea how excited I got when the new Savers store that opened in town stocked them! These too work just as well, if not better, than the leading brands and my glasses etc always shine.
Descaler Limescale Remover - The only item I own that I have not yet tried. I'll get back to you on that.
Stainless Steel Cleaner - Without using anything that could scratch or diminish the finish of your stainless steel, this gets all marks off leaving the surface super shiny! Another item of which I like the smell of haha.
Milk & Honey Handwash - There are a big variety of different handwashes available on the website, however I'd never seen any in store until Savers had two types of it on a ladder rack and Mam and I both grabbed them. It is soo nice smell wise and makes your skin super soft - win!
Lime & Bergamot Floor Cleaner - Awesome smelling and dilute this in warm water to wash my kitchen floor tiles and the laminate flooring in my extension.
Germ Clear Antibacterial Disinfectant - You use this diluted and again it can be used for many things. I like to use it to mop the bathroom floor!
4 in 1 Disinfectant Spray - I use this for the same things as the Anti Bacterial Cleanser. The only difference to this for me is the smell and I love the smell of this! It reminds me of green apples!
Bathroom Cleaner - The best bathroom cleaner you will ever use. It can literally be used on any surfaces in the bathroom, again smells fab and is so easy to use. I spray it over everything - sink, toilet, tiles etc leave for a minute or two then wipe it off! Ta-da!
Bleach Cream Cleaner - I probably use this one wrong but I smear it onto the grout and such in the shower, leave it for a little while then come back to it and wipe it off. It really brightens any areas that may of been discolored at all.
Window & Glass Cleaner - Obviously this isn't just for use in the bathroom but I wanted to say that not only is it great on windows and mirrors but glass shower doors too.
Carpet & Upholstery Target Spray - If you have dogs, or men in fact, this is handy for the odd spot of mud on the sofa cushion or tea spilt on the carpet.
Fabric Refresher - The 'Febreeze' style product of the range. Now I know I've gone on about the scent of a lot of these products, but this is beautiful!
Stain Remover Target Spray - This is similar to the carpet and upholstery one but obviously for your clothes and stuff.
Non Bio Wash - A complete lifesaver for us and I am SO over the moon to of found this product. We have gone through sooo many bottles and I've even converted my Mam (which is a big deal!).
Oxy-Plus Stain Remover (Not pictured as I ran out...) - This I simply pop a scoop of into my white was to brighten them up. Love it.
Stain Remover Bar - And finally, this is the first ever Astonish product my Mam and I ever used. We've been buying it for years without even really knowing anything about the brand, purely because it is so good at doing exactly what it says on the box.
Now I must clarify that Astonish have not paid/compensated me whatsoever for this post, nor do they know I was writing it.
I just want to shout from the roof tops because we all need to be using Cruelty free (as well as supporting family run businesses!!) where possible.
Astonish are manufactured in the UK, are BUAV and Vegetarian Society approved, super environmentally friendly and have a gigantic catalog of products.
Here it is, readily available and SO amazing affordable so why wouldn't you want to try it? Some people may pass it in the shop thinking it's just another cheap brand but seriously I think it works just as well, if not way better, than the leading brands. (Plus the packaging is pretty darn appealing if you ask me - my under sink cupboard looks super cute!)
They also have a big range of car cleaning products, something that is making me itch even more to get a new car so I can collect those too! But that's not it. What I've shown you isn't even probably half of what they stock so please pop over to their website, check out what they're all about and browse their giant selection for yourself!!!
In my town they are sold in Home Bargains, Savers, a few products in Tesco and in B&M. Let me know if you spot them in your town too.
[So sorry if you are not into cleaning. I'm a typical housewife and as it's my job too I'm extra interested in all of this kind of thing :P There will be a new post on Wednesday and it's an adventure one so pop back for that! :) ]
