Blogger Interview Tag

A huge thank you to the wonderful Amanda for tagging me in this super interesting post, like forever ago! I thought it'd be a cool tag to complete, especially for new followers, to let you in on what this little corner of the internet means to me.
Please make sure to pop over to Amanda's blog, Amanda Says and show her some love.
On with the questions!

How did you get into blogging?
My very first blog, around 8-9 years ago, was actually my first attempt at a project 365. At the time I wasn't aware of other people following blogs and the fact that people could interact with others, in fact I don't think there really was a 'community' like there is today.
After that blog fizzled out I set up one especially for my family to keep up with me while away on my first trip abroad alone in early 2010. I updated it in the evenings while on holiday in Disneyland Paris, though with it being specifically for that one trip once I returned home I no longer used it and returned to my Project 365.
Finally, in 2011 when starting another life journey (getting my first place) I set up this blog though back then it had a much longer and less catchy name.

What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
If you came across this hobby via the 'popular' bloggers that make a living out of it and thought that you'd like to do that too, think again. The blog world is saturated with thousands upon thousands of blogs these days and it is very hard to stand out, become recognized and above anything make a living from.
Only start a blog if you love to do it. I see so many people complain they have nothing to write about, but if you have nothing to write about then why are you blogging? It's a hobby first and foremost and no one is forcing you to put up posts. I don't mean to sound nasty but I have seriously, not once experienced 'bloggers block' because I 100% adore doing this and have an over flowing list of things I want to write about.
So yeah haha, in conclusion - don't get into it just because you think it'd make a cool job, don't worry about what other people say a blog should or shouldn't be and don't get into the habit of looking at numbers.

The evolution of Underland to Wonderland

What would be your dream campaign?
By looking at other posts of this 'Tag' it seems that this means like a charity kind of campaign and obviously if you've been here a while you'll know I've done a few things for different animal causes in the past. I jumped from a plane for my 21st birthday to raise money for Monkey World in Dorset, I organized a sponsored dog walk in my town for Guide Dogs for the blind as well as sponsoring a dog from Dogs Trust and a few other little things.
I think if anything it would be something to do with conservation and education of people everywhere on the effects their choices in life have on our world, including some of the species that could be wiped out within the next 50 years.

Do you have a plan for your blog?
Yes. To keep it up for as long as I can. Come next month Underland to Wonderland will be 4 years old and it houses the vast majority of any important events and the like from those past 4 years. It's so much a part of me and it makes me want to make the most out of my life so that I can come home and  shout to the world about the magical places there are in our little universe.

What do you think about rankings?
They are annoying and useless. haha That's the long and short of it. It's a horrible and bad habit to get into and is something that can get you down if you let it.
It's easier said than done to just not think about numbers but I am trying harder and harder to just not care nowadays. In this new blogging community it seems to be highly focused on popularity and cliques, so if you are not within that kind of group your rankings may not be as great as you'd like. Just don't sweat it, life is too short to care about how many people like you! haha

  2. I love how honest you are in your posts! That advice is spot on! My blog's not even 6 months old yet and I've been dreading eventually running out of ideas but it's really reassuring that after 4 years you're still full of inspiration.

You should be really proud of yourself because your blog is fab and so are you!

  4. I love this post! I can honestly say that I never look at my blog stats. I have no interest in it. I share my photos and posts because it's what I want to do. I love connecting with other people as well. I'm just here to have fun. :)

  5. I've not read a tag post in a long time but I really liked this one, a little different and good honest opinions. I especially love your response to "dream campaigns" I would have chosen something exactly along those lines too.

  6. Oh I loved seeing the evolution of your blog, I always enjoy looking back at old banner designs and posts, it always makes me feel nostalgic. Thank you for tagging me too, will definitely get on with this as soon as I can and post my answers up. I loved your answer for the charity question too and your answer for the rankings one I completely agree with, I don't like the competitiveness that's come around recently, it's not as fun when people are competing anymore. - Tasha

  7. You're aces! And I can't believe the blogs going to be four, that's blooming brilliant. You're right too, if you've nothing to write about then maybe it's just not the right hobby for you eh? And thank you muchly for the tag :o)

  8. I like your answers, and I don't mind the questions - I shall note this one down to do :)
I'm with you on the "blog plan" I have similar things in mind - I just like recording bits and pieces of life and that's enough for me. Same for the "bloggers block" - I have never had that, I might have moments where I get a little frustrated, but it's more to do with not feeling like I have the time to write all that I want to write. If I ran out of things to write, there would be no point.
Maybe that's the benefit of having a "life story" orientated blog rather than a niche.

    1. You totally love tags.

Oh that is our niche - life story. I like that!

  9. I only just saw this as was randomly browsing your blog, and isn't it funny that we were just talking about blogger's blog earlier and you replied to the same question on here?? *eerie xfiles music* lol what a funny coincidence! Anyway, loved reading your answers and all about how you started out and your journey, and I agree that ranking are useless! Great advice to new bloggers, too, you're very right, there's no point starting a blog with the intention of making money, it has to just be something you love to do. Keep up the great work, Danielle, love reading your posts :) x
