The 90s Tag

It's time for another tag post, this time, courtesy of the beautiful Jess from Cake Crumbs and Pages. I may have been born in 1990 and, therefore, a young child during the decade, but it was a great time to grow up. The 90s produced many amazing...everything! Things to watch, games to play, food to eat and clothes to wear. I hope you enjoy this tag and because I am not 100% sure how old you all are I've just tagged the odd person at the end, though obviously I tag anyone that wants to do it.

1. Favourite Disney Film?
Stop it. Seriously. I'll choose one live action and one animated if I really must but it's not 100% set in stone. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey and The Lion King.

2. Favourite Music Artist?
No Doubt.

3. Favourite Sweets?
Is it strange that for someone so into sweets, I can't think of any particularly 90s sweets?!

4. Favourite Game? (Board game / school game)
Board game wise I've only ever played Payday and Monopoly, I think. So probably either of them. School game? Dang it this is hard because I can barely remember last year let alone school. I think we liked to do those cats cradle things and hand games/songs. I'm sure you know what I mean!

5. Favourite McDonalds 'Happy Meal' Toy?
Not to sound like a brag, but my parents cooked me food ;) haha

6. Favourite Book?
Urm..Harry Potter obviously. But for early the 90s, I'd better say the Puppy Patrol books by Jenny Dale. I had the full set and it's one of the earliest series of books I can remember reading by myself apart from the ever famous Chip and Kipper ones. I remember in one class something being asked about books or something and my teacher thought I'd said 'Jelly Deel'...not Jenny Dale. A random memory but one of very few that I have of being a kid haha.

7. Favourite Clothing Store?
I guess Tammy? I had huge wide leg 'skate' trousers with chains and stuff from there.

8. Favourite TV Show?
Too many! I'm not gonna mention the ones you already know of and Nickelodeon or Disney channel shows but on normal tv after school I remember liking Art Attack, How2, Arthur, ZZZap!. Earlier 90s I liked Barney, Bananas in Pajamas, Bear in the Big Blue House, The Animals of Farthing Wood, Come Outside. There is no way to pick a fave and there are so many more. 90s TV was the best child's tv ever and today's shows haven't got a patch on them.

9. What Show Would You Watch After School?
Oops, I mentioned those above haha.  Usually, it was whatever was on Nickelodeon though.

10. What Was Your Favourite 90s Game Show?
I've never been a big game show fan.

11. Did You Own A Virtual Pet? (Cyberpet, Tamagotchi etc)
I had a Teddy Ruxpin, Tamagotchi, Poochie and Furby.

12. Favourite Video Game and System To Play On?
Game Boy colour. It's the only one I really had. We had an Atari but didn't use it much and never cared for PlayStation. (We have Xboxes now)

13. Weirdest Fashion Trend?
Well, of course, looking back on it, everything seemed weird! I'm sure at the time we thought it all perfectly normal. Something I never had (thankfully) but never understood and wasn't a fan of was 'poppers'. Do you know what I mean? Those jogging pants that had press studs right up the legs...urgh! haha

14. Favourite Toy?
I've actually got a blog post on my Top 5 90s Childrens Toys, so you can check that out, but I've always been a lover of soft toys/teddies and I think other than that my main love as a kid were Puppy in my Pockets.

15. Favourite Nickelodeon Show?
Yet again, it's not one I can limit down to one haha. Clarissa Explains it All, The Amanda Show, Kenan and Kel, Doug, Hey Arnold. I would have listed Sabrina the Teenage Witch first, but technically it was an ABC show :P

Tag list
Lily of Tiny Grey Cat
Kelly and Lucy of Sweet is Always in Style
Chelsea of Love in Modern Life
Maxine of Chatterbox Max
And any other cool dudes.

  2. I call myself a Disney fan but I've actually never seen Homeward bound!! Shameful. I absolutely LOVED Hey Arnold, Sabrina the teenage witch and Arthur. In fact, I wish I had kids just so I could watch them again! Love this post :)

  6. Oh my gosh, I love this Danielle! Tammy was a popular haunt of mine back in the day and I had the same trousers - my Dad used to call them dusters, haha! I was also a huge No Doubt fan too - I had their CD's in my walkman all the time - couldn't get enough of it. - Tasha

  9. I love seeing Tag Posts especially ones from a certain decade, I was a bit older than you in the 1990's as I was 15 in 1990 😳 so I don't remember much of the TV shows as I would have been at college or work. I did however have a Tamagotchi, would agree that The Lion King (along with Aladdin) were among my favourite films of the decade and I also didn't like those poppered tracksuit bottoms.

The bunny in your pic I had one very similar, I got her in 1998 and her name was Daisy. It's hard to believe that the 1990's were 20+ years ago as it really doesn't seem that long ago.

    1. Yes Aladdin too!

My bunny was called Snowdrop :) I know that I'm only 25 but it's still crazy that it's been so long...

  10. What a fab tag! I've just done this myself. Such a throwback.
Homeward Bound is one of my favourite Disney films. I remember watching it as a kid and crying at Shadow's scene!

  11. I'm sure you tagged me in something else and I didn't get around to doing it yet. I need to do some blog writing instead of just editing lots of holiday photos haha. I think I'm going to have to Google lists of things from the 90s to help me with this tag though, since I can barely remember anything!

I love how you also had some big skate trousers... it was very important that they would drag on the floor and cover my shoes haha

    1. Oh I just tag you in everything these days as I know how much you love them.
It is pretty hard to be fair...especially if you're like me and can't remember last week.

Yes! The whole of the shoes must be covered and the trouser hems end up ripping!

  12. I love this post! Haha, the nineties were amazing - they could be so tacky and weird, but so much fun too! Do you remember those gooey aliens that came into plastic eggs? Looking back they're such a weird toy but I remember everyone in my school having one!

  13. Love this post. I used to love Art Attack and How2, Arthur and ZZZap!. You totally forget about all those things until something comes along and you have to dig deep into childhood memories :) I need to complete my Sabrina re-watch - I'd love to buy the box set actually :)
