The Making of Harry Potter // Part 3

Welcome to the Gryffindor common room!
I dunno about you, but to me the common room looks different in each movie - so this set was a little weird to me. Some bits looked familar, others I was like 'really? It was like that?', but obviously it's the common room all the same.
One thing that I loved was although it's obviously just a set indoors, the lighting and stuff makes it look like you can see out into the grounds through the windows, especially the one on the staircase! What's funny also is the fact that pretty much all the furnature is exactly my style and it's easily my version of an Ikea showroom haha.
Unfortuantly I didn't get a proper photo of this as it was still super busy and we had to rush past, but can you spot Proffessor McGonigals portait on the wall?? An wonderful touch.

What could be up that staircase, but the boys dormitory?! Like everything else, it's so small and cute. The fact that the beds were made to fit the actors in the Philosophers Stone and so were outgrown by the later movies, meaning the boys had to curl up when filming, is such a cool but silly thought.
Again, I love the decor and would adore a room with red velvet curtains adorned with gold stars. Just like everything else I photograph, I like to capture the details and different views to what others show, so I love that I caught the little rubbish bin as well as the trunks with their initials on.

Following on from the Gryffindor side of things I thought it only right I included the stunning office of Proffessor Dumbledore to wrap up this post. Everything is just georgous and I think it may be one of my favorite sets of all. From the sorting hat and Gryffindor's sword to the memory vials and the Richard Harris (best) version of Dumbledore watching over everything from the top of the stairs, it's all in such amazing detail and truely magical.
To think most of those books are old phone books covered in leather is hard to imagine.

Make sure to check out the previous parts of this mini series, of which you can find links to just below. Where do you think we'll explore next time..?

Part 1 - Outside and Lobby Area
Part 2 - Opening the Doors to the Great Hall (with video!)

    1. Thank you! They are indeed, it's completely mad to consider all the work that went into it all.
They had the sorting hat on display in the great hall recently for some reason - think it was last month. Sat on its stool!
