Countdown to Disney 2016 // The Low Down

Ohhh, so I know it's only May and it's still over 7 months until my trip but hear me out. You may think I get too excited too soon, but I have been counting the days since it was well over a year to go - 7 months is nothing! Not only that but my 2014 Countdown to Disney ran from the start of April until our departure mid-October - seven months. Seems fitting eh?

And so Countdown to Disney 2016 begins! To be in keeping with my 2014 series here is the countdown as of today.
17,280,000 seconds
288,000 minutes
4800 hours
200 days
28 weeks and 4 days

Now a point about that count. I hope no one bothers to work it out or ask exact dates I'll be there. Obviously, I don't care if people do know when I'll be there as it's a safe place and it doesn't matter or I wouldn't share my countdown, but I've never understood these 'trip announcements' or letting everyone know which dates you'll be there. It freaks me out and all feels a little weird if I'm honest (sorry).
If anyone does happen to be there at the same time as me, I hope they have a great trip but gosh, I pretty please hope they don't come up to me. I have a reason before you think I'm being stuck up!
Not to be yet another person to go on about 'anxiety', I'll call it a fear instead. I have certain fears regarding people and social situations and Disneyland is one place I can say those subside somewhat. I can enjoy my time without worrying about other people to an extent and it's crazy nice. This time, it's a little different as it seems there are so many people in the blogging community that go to DLP all the time making it pretty possible for me to see someone and that is really freaking me out a little. This is probably worrying about nothing as none of them really talk to me/are my friends so I doubt they'd recognize me or care if they did, but I want to relax, enjoy my trip and not have to worry about who might see me.
This is all starting to sound slightly paranoid of me but meh, I can't help it! That's the low down.

On a happier note, I'm really looking forward to having started this series again. Over the coming months you can expect pretty much the same line-up as last time; a ride hitlist, meet and greet wish list, shopping list, what I pack and maybe more.
Indeed I do plan every single detail and it's why I book as soon as the dates I want become available. Planning and organisation are a big deal to me, not only helping to keep my stress and anxiety under control but overall making for the most enjoyable trip, fitting in as much as I can.
I like to leave big gaps between my trips too as it allows me to appreciate it even more upon my return! (That and I'm not that well off to visit yearly...let alone multiple times a year)
We will be staying at Sequoia Lodge for the first time which I'm reaaallly looking forward to and our trip is 4 nights, 5 days.
I'm also excited as I'll get to see my friend Kerri again! Yep, I convinced her and her husband, Kris, to come with Mam and I :) It'll be so weird being at the parks with a friend as well as my Mam and finally getting to do a couple rides I've had on my wishlist for quite a while...
This originally was going to actually be our first time meeting but she actually took the trip all the way to Berwick last Friday :D (A post about our day will be up soon).

If there is anything in particular you'd like to see in this series, feel free to let me know and that goes for my actual trip posts too. Would you prefer the photos to go up land by land (like last time, check out the full list of those posts here) or day by day? If you say day by day, be aware that that may mean 2-3 posts for each of the days haha.

Let me know your thoughts and catch you in the next countdown in June! :)

Ps. Don't hate me and think this is a nasty post. I tried my best to write my feelings well but it's pretty difficult for me and my social disadvantages...

  1. Ohhhhh I would so love to stay in Sequoia Lodge, but it was just a little out of my price range this time around so we're staying in Hotel Cheyenne this time around, but next time I'll definitely be indulging a little more and staying there! I know it's months away but I hope you have a fab trip! I'll be there the week before you for my 30th! xx

    1. I'm trying to do them all and we got quite an awesome deal so I'm excited for it! We did Cheyenne in 2014 (I actually have a review blog post :P haha) and Santa Fe & the Disneyland Hotel in 2010, hopefully at Newport Bay for a tiny visit next year which will be my last for a long time!

Thank you! Oh really?! How awesome, hope it's a great birthday!

  2. Awww, so cool! I get exactly what you mean - I can never wait and always start a countdown too, it's just too much fun when a holiday is on the horizon. It sounds like you'll be staying somewhere really nice too and getting to spend it with Kerri and Kris sounds like it will be amazing! - Tasha

Maybe when my little ones are a bit bigger. Don't worry, I'd be just as excited as you, counting every second!! Haha.

Also, it's not a nasty post at all silly. You're just expressing how you feel.
I think i'd feel weird about it too!!

    1. Yes you need to! There is so much more there now.
I'd for sure wait 'till they are a little older.

I'm glad you can see what I mean :)

  4. The last time I went to DLP I was 12, I think. Around that age anyway. I'd love to go again but right now we can't afford it. I plan to save up, though, so I can take our kids when we have them and share the magic of DLP with them! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. I wish I'd gone around that age too. Did you love it? I have been 6, 19 and 24 on my previous visits. Can't believe I'll be 26 next trip :O

It's the only thing I spend money on really (minus 2nd hand dvds and my dog lol) and I'm an OCD planner / organizer so I book so far in advance and research so much that we get great deals. My Mam, Dad and I are hopefully going for a tiny trip next Spring and then that'll be my last for a LONG time as I need to start saving to buy a house.

Yeah, it'll be great to see you again especially as I won't be as nervous having already met you now.
