The Making of Harry Potter // Part 7

Oh my gosh, we're getting closer and closer to the end of this little series and I'm gonna be lost once it's over! haha. In this post, we have reached a darker area - starting with an eery Ministry of Magic, an even creepier Borgin and Burkes, then finally the down-right evil Malfoy Manor.
By this point the crowds were pouring in, including many more school groups, so it was very tight and difficult to menover...especially with a big camera. I had planned to video the whole place with my GoPro (hence my video of us entering the Great Hall) but for the afor mentioned reason, I gave up trying. I mention this as I think it would have been a pretty great way to better show the layout and scale of it all, especially this section. Oh well! Let's start with taking a walk through the Ministry.

I know that in the movies the Ministry of Magic is a huge set and therefore it'd probably be impossible to have a larger section or perhaps this is all there was and the rest was post production, but I was expecting something different for this part. The most striking moment to me was seeing the 'Magic is Might' statue and it did actually give you the feeling that Hermione and the guys got when they first saw it in the atrium. Or at least for me it did.
As with any of the sets, the costumes were super cool to see and helped you imagine the scenes more so than if they weren't there.

Now this is another section I wish there was way more of! I loved seeing all the weird and wacky trinkets and treasures of Borgin and Burkes shop. The shrunken heads, skulls in glass domes and the larger items like the vanishing cabinet were so intricate and 'real'. The appearance of dust and grim compared to the shiny, clean office of Umbridge in my last post (which is actually situated on the back side of this wall) was a huge difference, so you can see it is intentional and not just lack of care ;) haha.
How cool is the candle chandelier as well? I love it.

Malfoy Manor. Not much to say here, I reckon it all speaks for itself. Oozing evil, if it had been a little darker I really would have found it scary.

Below are the last few photos that were all also taken in the same area of the tour but didn't seem to quite fit into the above sets. It was crazy to see the Horcruxes themselves and as for Riddles grave...oooohh!! The grave was set up and out of the way so when I was taking photos of it a lot of people were looking up to see what my camera was pointed it. Because of that, I think some people may miss out on seeing it so if you visit the tour always make sure to look all around you!

  1. Borgin and Burkes looks so so cool! I love the dust, it really makes it feel how you expect from the stories. It would look weird if it was so clean. I'm sad this series is coming to an end, it's been really fascinating to see all the stuff!

    1. I'm not usually a fan of the dark side but seeing the things in Borgin and Burkes was really cool and fun to photograph. Thanks so much :)

    1. It really was the worst part. Like not in a prop and set way, but how it made me feel. Did it's job I guess.
