Things I HATE About People

Hate. It's a strong word isn't it? I did a post a few months back titled 'Things I HATE about Disney' which ended up turning a few heads due to my love of Disney. I explained at the start of that why I try not to use the word hate and instead say 'strongly dislike' so please take that word with a pinch of salt.
Seeing as that Disney post was quite well received compared to most of my posts, I have decided to continue it as a sort of series. You probably wonder how many things I can possibly 'hate' but I already have this post and two others drafted haha.
As always, I hope no one is offended by anything I say...we all have opinions remember :P

In no particular order -

Ignoring Instructions.
By this, I am particularly referring to the written 'keep to the left' written on stairs at the train station or the 'foot passengers to the right' signage on the bridge. It's not limited to that though, it could mean actual bikes using the cycle path and not the footpath or all the school kids not taking up 10 priority seats on the bus.
Can you not read or do you choose to go against the recommended regulations on purpose? They make life a lot easier (and in most cases safer) for everyone so just stop.

Litter Dropping
You. Have. No. Excuse.
You. Are. Destroying. Our. Planet.
Seriously though, I'd love to hear from anyone that has a genuine reason for throwing any kind of waste on the ground. It's obviously that you don't even have the first thought of what repercussions your split second decision will have but from now on remember that it's not only unsightly, it kills wildlife, it's unhygienic and things like the glass bottle you set on a wall during your early morning swagger home from a drunken night out, will 100% get smashed and cause a cat or dog to cut it's paws or harm a child that trips over.

Hierarchy of Fashion.
We are both shopping in Morrisons, so why because you are all dressed up and I'm in jeans and a Disney T-shirt does that mean you are any better than me? Please do not look at me like something stuck to the bottom or your shoe or push me out of the way. It's awesome that you are confident to stroll about just doing a monthly shop in a fancy blouse, heels and smelling like you've spilt a whole bottle of Chanel over your head but I prefer to blend in and be comfortable - that doesn't mean anything about me as a person. For all you know I could be a millionaire. I'm not, but I'd still dress like this if I was.

Judging by Looks.
Similarly to the previous point, just because I have tattoos on show in summer or no makeup and messy hair on my way to work (I'm a cleaner) in the mornings, you needn't be scared of me. You can sit next to me on a bus that is packed full or smile back and say good morning when I do it to you. Strangely enough, although I'm tattooed I do not drink, take drugs or smoke at all. I do not listen to much music or own a motorbike. I like to bird watch and sit alone with my dog watching movies...pretty safe to be around ;)

One Uppers.
I did a skydive! 'Oh? I did you hear about when I skydived, in Austrailia, from 127,000,000 feet without a parachute and landed on the back of a kangaroo?'.
You know the type of people I mean, you must have met one. No matter what you do or whatever story you tell, they have done it x10 bigger/better. They may well have done but I think that when someone is telling you about something they are proud of you should listen, ask questions and praise them - NOT turn it around on yourself you selfish little monkey.

Ignorant Users.
Users of addictive/harmful/yucky substances I mean. Passive smoking can actually be more dangerous than for those who receive the cigarette chemicals first hand. I also have asthma and you looking at me as if I'm the rude one when I move away from you at the bus stop is as ignorant as it gets. Special shout outs to drunk people who have no regard for personal space or even the people who try to force you to drink/think you are strange when you don't want a drink.

Of course, there are many more traits I could mention haha, because evidently I am easily annoyed and there are surely things much more serious* that could be listed but I tried to keep this from getting too anger filled and limited it to 6!
Tell me if you agree with any or maybe all of these? If not, what is your biggest annoyance about your fellow humans?

[* Ie. Animal abuse/neglect. Disrespect of the elderly/disabled or not showing respect to servicemen/care givers etc]

  1. Love this post! Have to agree with the litter picking and the hierarchy of fashion! I went food shopping the other day in my casual clothes and got a few dirty looks from a girl with high heels on, a tight skirt and little vest top, fair enough she looked nice but in my own opinion I am not entirely sure why food shopping requires to be dressed up.

    1. Thank you! Urgh, like why?! It's all good if people wanna walk the catwalk down the frozen isle but like wise, if I wanna go in my joggers and trainers that should be fine too. Why people have to look down on others is beyond me. We are just buying food! haha

  2. I agree with all of these points and had to nip back and read your Disney post too, I agree about the symbolism one massively. Whilst I can see the reason for outrage if a film like Cinderella came out now NOT based on a fairytale, these films are classics from a different era and the protagonists have completely different lives in recent films. I hate, hate, hate litter droppers so I think that was the point I most agreed with. :)

    1. Thank you!! It's always nice to know when people agree with you ;) lol.
I pick up other peoples rubbish everyday when I see it, I don't know what is so hard about popping it in a bin or holding onto it until you get home?!

  3. Yes to all of these! Especially littering!! I just cannot understand why people think its okay to throw their garbage on the ground. And I've definitely met a few "one uppers". So annoying!

    1. Right?! #NoToLittering haha I serious think it needs to be taught in schools. Like the effects etc and why it's not okay, as I know many parents who don't teach their kids about it all.

  4. PREACCCCHHHHHHH... I so agree with you.
The judging thing drives me NUTS> My husband has long hair to his rear end - a total rocker. SO people automatically think he's a druggie, loser type guy. So far from who he is.
Funny story - one time he was in Vegas with a friend - who is a clean cut Italian looking guy who wears designer suits. He's a drug head.... there's my husband who looks like a rocker from the 70's... never touched a drug in his life. People came up to him ALL weekend long asking if he wanted to buy stuff. He said he didnt but pointed them to his 'clean cut friend'... proof that people judge by looks. UGH!

    1. Oh my goodness no way?! What a perfect example though. Outward appearance has very little, if not no, correlation to what kid of person you are. Your husband sounds pretty awesome to me though. Defying stereotypes like a boss! :P

  5. Animal abuse is the no 1 reason why I hate humans. Second to that? Child abuse. How anyone could hurt something so defenceless, so innocent, so undeserving is beyond me and I'd happily hurt the people that do those kinds of things myself (and I'm not usually a violent list). Otherwise, I have to agree with all of these on your list. Hate them all! I often get judged for my self-harm scars and people give me funny looks. It's none of their business or place to judge, they don't know what I've been through! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. Agreed. Anything that can't defend/protect itself should be defended/protected. I could write hundreds and hundreds of words about it though so I better not start.
Any type of scars, birth marks etc etc should never been looked at or questioned by anyone - no one could ever ever know the story behind things like that.

  6. Um, ALL OF THESE! Most especially the last one. I have no tolerance for smoking, especially around others who don't have a choice but to be subjected to it. While I don't drink myself, I have no problem with those who consume alcohol, until they try and force it on others or tease people who don't. Then I want to light them on fire.

  7. I have to say I agree with all of these! I can't stand to see people littering, it's one of the worst things a person can do in my opinion, especially as there are usually plenty of bins in public areas now and even if you're in the countryside, you can put your waste into a bag or box to bring home with you - no excuse for it really. The ones about fashion and looks are so important too - and I've noticed this while out and about, it irks me because we're all people who have our own battles and to be rude to someone on the streets just adds to what's wrong with the world. I think it's good to vent and get these out of your system though so don't feel bad for sharing these! - Tasha

Nope, not one excuse ever. It needs taught in schools. All about recycling, non recyclables, what it does to the environment and everything in between.

  8. Yep all of these especially one uppers, I used to work with a woman who no matter what I had done she had done ten times better, I also hate bad drivers, people with no manners, impatient people and queue jumpers. The litter is annoying as hell, a broken vodka bottle is lying in bits on the path where I walk (and hundreds more) the dog, people are ignorant!

    Great post!

    1. Yes! No manners and queue jumpers etc for sure.I stopped one morning to pick up all the pieces I could of a broken bottle and put it in a dog poo bag (the only thing I had) and the dirty looks I got from people was crazy!

Could not agree more about your choices.

  10. I also hate people who leave their dogs in the car when they go shopping! Our town has a group FB page, 21k + members. Somebody posted that they were disgusted with the driver who threw out their cigarette butt close to the mall (there is dry weeds nearby and we had just had a veld fires that destroyed houses) and some people actually commented that we don't need to over react like that. Like, cigarette butts is nothing and that everybody litters sometimes. I just get so angry when people are stupid like that!

    1. Agree with all of it. I think I might have to do a part two because there are far too many idiotic people haha. I wonder how someone would feel if them dropping a cigarette caused a major fire! :(

  11. I'm totes in agreement. The smoking thing really annoys me. and I hate when people complain they aren't allowed to smoke in places when hello! what gives them the right to think they can pollute my air! It really bothers Kris as it's about the only thing that sets off his asthma and I'm quite sensitive to other things being in the air so I find it very hard to breathe.

Damn all those people who skydive onto kangaroos too!

    1. Right? Why can't they just kill themselves in their own houses and not everyone in the street. Harsh but true. I'm so glad I forced Jake to switch to the vapor stuff.

      Poor kangaroos eh?

  12. I loved this post, it's so good. I know a couple of people who always have to get one up, I also have some very good friends that don't realise they do this sometimes. As for smoking I totally get this, I'm asthmatic too and the looks people give me when I cough or move away from them when they're smoking. Some people just have no respect for others these days. ♥ A Teal Soul

  13. I hate littering too, I don't think there is ever a genuine reason for throwing something on the street.
I am going to supermarkets in high heels and dressed up. I'm not dressing up for going to shops, but after a meeting or a full day at a fair, I'm not going to go home/hotel/cottage to change. Some people would look funny at me too. I don't understand, they really think I've put the 4 inch heels on only to go to buy some tomatoes?! Bonkers. Anyway, that's their problem, not mine.
We judge on looks, but this also means we can express ourselves with clothes, makeup and shoes. We can't have one without the other, so I don't mind it as much. I also try not to judge.

    1. Oh I'm not judging, I'm describing an actual situation that happened to me. I am forever being looked at like rubbish by people who think they are better but the description of the clothing etc is of an actual person..not generalizing or judging any particular group of people, just being annoyed at that particular individual for treating me that way.

  15. Oh my stars I love this post!! Was nodding along to every point haha! When my boyfriend first went to London he didn't see the signs and very quickly annoyed all the Londoners on the escalators in the underground! I've had to yank him over to one side a few times *facepalm*.

A girl I know is a serious one-upper. Really *really* pisses me off.

I'm guilty of smoking though :P not ignorantly, I know how bad it is for me, I have no excuse! But I'm deffo not one to smoke near other non-smokers, that still pisses me off even though I smoke! There area areas for smoking, plenty of quiet places to go. I always stand well away from people, usually near a bin. I move away if people are near. Sometimes I think I subconsciously smoke to keep people away from me 'cos I'm pretty scared of people actually... it stops them wanting to go near me! :P

    1. Aha thank you!!! Yup - I've done the same with Jake and he just doesn't care. Pft. Or i've had to stand to one side and let someone passed on the bridge, then they don't even say thank you and they were on the wrong bloomin' side!! Ahhhh!!!

Oh my OH smokes too (he's switched to vapor the last couple of years though) and whenever he smokes he stands away from people, it's just manners. There's a difference between being a smoker and being an ignorant one who just doesn't care about anyone around them.
That's actually a super good way of keeping people away...kind of makes me wish I had something like that to do the same ;) lol
