My Non-Disney Media Collection

Ever since posting my Disney Media Collection* back in May, I've planned to share the rest of my media collection that isn't Disney related. I have no idea how 5 months have passed already but here I am finally getting around to it. My collections aren't huge or special or anything else, but they are mine and I appreciate them. Also - just like my Dis-collection, a lot of the items in this post are either pre-loved or bought while on some sort of offer...in other words as cheaply as possible! Let's start with the books.

*which is insanely out of date and is in need of a major update.

It's actually funny that those above that look the most worn and well read were all bought new. The Ian Rankin Inspector Rebus series was something I was into when I was in my early teens as were the Mary Higgins Clarke books, my Harry Potter books have been read over 10 times each within the last 14/5 years (all 3 series bought new) and the rest have either been read once or never!
A couple of my favorites recently are the two by Rachel Joyce which were actually my saving graces when they broke my year+ long reading drought. I'm gonna talk a little bit more about them in another post so we'll move onto DVDs now...

So the top photo is of 'my' DVDs that are at home on the bottom of my bookcase. They aren't Disney, obviously, but don't fit in with the rest of our (Jake and I's) movie collection - they're mainly U or PG rated and classics. On that shelf are some of my all-time favorite movies, especially from my childhood - The Wizard of Oz, Labyrinth, Fairytale, A Little Princess and The Secret Garden are very sentimental to me. Something you might not know about me is I am a huge fan of the Olsen Twins too! There are still a couple of their movies that I need and I'd also love to have the Full House boxset eventually.
Apologies for the next few photos, this cupboard proved extremely hard to photograph! But anyway, as you can see from these other DVDs we like comedy, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell and Jim Carey being popular picks, however, we are quite eclectic in our genre tastes omitting only gory stuff and mushy gushy romantic things.
Two things I can't photograph as they are digital files on my external hard drive are other shows I need as box sets. Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Saved by the Bell (Good Morning Miss Bliss etc) aka my all time favorite TV shows ever, ever, ever!

And that's about everything, like the Disney one, this collection has grown since writing this and so I'll do an update in 6 months to a year probably. I shouldn't need to say this, but I always mention in any haul or collection post that these posts are for my own benefit, helping me to see everything I have and fully appreciate every single thing, not to brag or any rubbish like that.
I'd love to see your collections as always - so send me links!

  1. You have a fantastic taste in books ;) Big fan of Mary Higgins Clark, Ian Rankin and, of course, Harry Potter! I can't get over how many DVD's you have! My fiance probably had that many when we moved in together, but we culled the collection and put all the disks onto an external harddrive so we can still watch them, but not have them take up so much space. We only buy physical copies of ones we really love! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. haha Thank you!! Not many people know who MHG is when I mention those books. We don't really have that many non-Disney ones, I have about double the amount in my Disney collection haha. We don't really have much of anything else so they don't take up too much room thankfully.

  2. Amazing collection! I stopped buying DVDs a while ago, getting everything digitally instead and have a handful of favourite BluRays (almost entirely Disney) but do miss having physical things to collect.

    1. Thank you!! We don't really have much of anything else so it's nice to have our DVDs. Those ones are mainly in my OH's living room and my Disney collection (which is about double the size) is in my living room. I feel like I'm conned out of money when I buy something digitally because a lot of the time it costs the same to get it physically.

  4. Duuuude, so many DVDs haha! I always feel a little lame because I own nothing like this. No books, no DVDs, I don't know why, I've just never thought to buy stuff. I technically own books, but they are all ebooks, so I'm not sure how much that counts.

I love seeing people's collections though, it's fun to see what people like, plus it's really good for gift ideas too!

    1. I didn't think it was that many! ha. You're just minimalist! It makes moving and travelling so much easier!
Oh I suppose, I never thought of it like that. My family can never buy me Disney DVDs and stuff because they can never keep up with what I have haha

  5. I still absolutely love the Creature Vault book, the cover is so pretty and I love exploring the lore and creatures of the HP universe. I love your DVD collection too, it's great! I must start to get some more DVD's back as I rent films so often now I don't have any physical copies anymore, and it's sad to have empty shelves, haha. I'll definitely have to check out those Ian Rankin books too, they sound really interesting! - Tasha

    1. Isn't it fab?! I want the rest of them but £25 is pretty pricey for a book. I only got it because we were at the Studio Tour haha. CeX is your friend!! You can buy dvds for even cheaper than what you would pay to rent them!
