My Life in Movies Tag!

Movies and a tag all in one post?! Yes! It's been quite a while since the last tag on this here blog, back in February it seems, so we were more than due one! I saw this one inparticular over on Amy Mclean's YouTube channel, so pop over and give her version a watch after you've read this ;)

1) First Steps: The first film you remember seeing as a kid.
Well starting off with a difficult one, I can't remember much as my memory isn't the greatest. However my Mam says that Mary Poppins will have probably been the first. I can obviously remember The Little Mermaid and The Lion King but by that time I was about 4.

2) Teenage crush: Which actor/actress did you have a crush on?
I was never really the type for stuff like that, I still am not. There has always been one man out of all celebrities that I have thought was a fantastic actor and extremely handsome man, though.

3) Bad Choices, Good Outcome: A movie you watched and ended up enjoying, even though you wanted to hate it.
Probably most 'rom coms' haha. I like to think that I'm all serious, action/adventure or family comedies as I'm not into all that romantic stuff, but there are quite a few rom-coms that I was shocked to have enjoyed. Examples; Maid in Manhattan, My Best Friends Wedding - actually most things with Julia Roberts, Sleepless in Seattle and so on. There are many rom-coms that I know I'll like because they are more on the comedy side than romance and they feature certain actors in eg. Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd, Reece Witherspoon.

4) First Date: When you went on a first date what movie did you see?
I've never gone to the cinema on a first date...actually I've never been on a 'date'. Jake and I did go to see a couple films at the cinema during the first few months of being together though, the very first being Super 8 in August 2011 and yes, I still have the (very faded now) ticket.

5) Home Comforts: What movie reminds you of time with your family?
Pollyanna reminds me of times at my Nanas when I was a young child. Then there's the obvious ones that most people my age will have probably watched too, Jumanji, Matilda, The Secret Garden and A Little Princess! I can't think of a time that my Dad ever watched much animation so those are the movies that Mam, Dad and I could all watch together and still enjoy.

6) First Heartbreak: What movie really upset you or hit you more than you thought?
Oh gosh, I have a whole 'black list' that I have vowed never to watch again. Marley and Me is up there, The Pursuit of Happiness too. But as for the 'first' ones I'd say Bambi and The Lion King have always gotten me but I do re-watch those (even if I skip the saddest parts).

7) Leaving home: What movie was the first you watched without your family?
I can barely remember last week let alone that far back! I'll have to ask my Mam. She sid, 'Not sure, probably a Disney one'. lol
At the cinema I think it was that weird 'Big Fish' thing...because I remember being in early middle school and going with two of my friends, to our old cinema at the Playhouse, before it was demolished leaving us without a proper cinema within  60 miles :/

8) Good Times: What movie do you watch most and why?
The Harry Potter series probably. So much so I've had to limit myself to one watch through per year. All the books and movies just mean a great deal to me and have been in my life since around 2001, they kind of transport me away from whatever is going on in life for a while.

9) Learn a new language: What is your favourite non-English language movie?
As uncultured as this may make me seem, I don't think I have watched any non-English movies. Unless silent movies count?

10) Can't leave the sofa: What series on TV got you hooked?
A few! My top 5 'serious' faves are Lost, Prison Break, Person of Interest, Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy. And my 5 'fun' faves are Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Full House, 8 Simple Rules, Saved by the Bell and Gilmore Girls. Oh and Friends. Who doesn't like Friends?! Well, except Jake because he has no soul.

11) Sick day: What movie do you watch if you don't feel well to cheer you up?
Usually easy to watch things that I can zone in and out of incase I fall asleep midway through and stuff haha. So the likes of pre-80s live action Disney family movies that I have seen a million times! Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and everything with Hayley Mills or Fred MacMurray in! (Summer Magic, The Parent Trap, Bon Voyage!, Follow Me, Boys etc)

12) Looking to the future: What movies are you looking forward to seeing?
Anything and everything Disney release pretty much ha. As for recent/coming releases I want to see King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Mummy and Jumanji.

13) If only: What old movie do you want to see re-made?
Ooohh I'd like to see Disney re-imagine The Wizard of Oz. We had Oz the Great and Powerful which is one of my favorite Disney movies of the past 10 years so it'd be cool to see their take on that.

14) End of the road: What 3 films do you think you think will always enjoy watching?
How am I meant to choose only 3?! I suppose I'll omit anything Disney and categorize it, otherwise I could be here all day. Hmm. Something fun and light-hearted, this is easy to watch - Passport to Paris (I love anything with the Olsen twins in!), a physcological thriller type of deal - Shutter Island, and a classic - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!

That was super fun! I've missed tags! I tag all movie lovers who would like to take part and if you do you must come back and share the link in these comments so I can read it.
Other than everyone, I individually tag:

  1. This was a really fun read Danielle and got me thinking about all of our favourite movies and shows. We adored Sabrina growing up and literally remember when the final episode aired. I swear the whole school was talking about it that day and we couldn't wait to get home to see it. As for the Olsen Twins, we loved them too and watched every movie, they may be corny but I seriously want to sit down and watch them again. In fact, they actually have a dvd collection here at Walmart, with a few of their movies and I'm so tempted to get it. :)

    Kelly xx

    1. Do it!!! I have the majority of their movies on DVD and it's great to have them in the house just to pop on when you have one of those days!

Would love to see you both do this tag too if you fancy it. My mind always blanks when it comes to tagging people while writing the post haha

  2. Love this! I'm gonna have to start thinking way back in time for a couple of these haha 😂! Thanks for tagging me, can't wait to do it. Xx

    1. It took my quite a few days to complete it because I had to think so hard for some haha! Looking forward to reading yours!

    2. Here you go hun, that was great fun, tahnk you!! xx

  3. Awww, Super 8 is one of my all time favourites so reading that that was one of the first films you saw with Jake made me smile! I love that you've still got the ticket too. I always keep things from moments like those, I'm a real softy and get all nostalgic about things like that. I think Bambi and The Lion King really did a number on me as a kid too, they were two of the first films to really hit home and make the tears flow too. Loved this post, you listed so many of my favourites in here too! - Tasha

    1. Oh really?! I haven't watched it in a while so I'll have to watch it again and re-fresh my memory. I think I have every cinema ticket from at least the last 5 years haha. I just put tickets from films, shows etc in my memory box.
I don't think I trust anyone who doesn't get upset during The Lion King!

    2. Me either, Lion King is a classic and a real tear jerker too! I do love Super 8, one of my faves.

  4. Here's my take on it...

    1. Oh awesome!! Thanks for linking it. I'll pop over and give it a look asap!

  5. Awn I loved reading this it was so interesting.. what a fascinating post :) xoxox
