My All-Time Favorite Disney Actors

There are so many incredible actors that feature throughout all of Disneys productions, way back when to right now. Stars who have made their fame starting with the company, to huge names with their own followings pairing with Disney. Many actors and actresses even continue to work with Walt Disney Studios for multiple productions and a few of them I am going to talk about today!
My favourites to be exact. So here they are, my all-time favorite Disney actors that have had roles in more than one movie. (In alphabetical order as I can't put them all in an actual order).

Annette Funicello [1942 - 2013]
One of the original mouseketeers in the Mickey Mouse Club, Annette went on to act in Babes in Toyland, The Monkey's Uncle and The Shaggy Dog (plus more) - all 3 of which I love! She was a beautiful lady of many talents who sadly passed away due to her MS. In 1995 she starred in the TV movie about her own life, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes: The Annette Funicello Story ,which is a great watch for fans.

Bobby Driscoll [1937 - 1968]
The original child star who ended up going down the wrong path, like many from our generation. You may know Bobby as the voice of Peter Pan in the animated classic, but this is about live action movies of which he was in a few too. Song of the South, So Dear to My Heart and Treasure Island, two of these being in my absolute top 5 Disney movies ever. Sadly he passed away at 31 after struggles with drug addiction.

David Tomlinson [1917 - 2000]
The British actors name isn't one you'd automatically regconise, but his face is. He played the equally lovable roles of Mr Banks in Mary Poppins and Professor Emelius Browne in Bedknobs and Broomsticks some of the most popular live action (well techincally hybrid) Disney movies of all time. He was in the first movie of the Herbie series too, The Love Bug!

Dean Jones [1931 - 2015]
Another actor from the Herbie series is Dean Jones who featured alongside DT in The Love Bug as well as Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. Other movies he was in include:  The Ugly Dachshund, Blackbeard's Ghost, Snowball Express and his first apperance, That Darn Cat!

Dick Van Dyke [1925 - ]
Does this man really need any sort of introduction or explaination?! Not only the legend of multiple roles in Mary Poppins, Van Dyke graced our screens in the awesome Lt. Robin Crusoe USN, Never a Dull Moment and most recently Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. However, at 91 he still isn't done! Returning to fill our hearts with his apperance in 2018's Mary Poppins Returns.

Ed Wynn [1886 - 1966]
The original Mad Hatter and similar tea-drinking, belly laughing Uncle Albert from Mary Poppins Ed Wynn was a serial Disney star! Babes in Toyland, The Absent-Minded Professor, Son of Flubber, That Darn Cat! and his last acting role ever in The Gnome-Mobile. Who couldn't love this clown?! (I'm not being rude, he was actually a clown comedian haha)

Fess Parker [1924 - 2010]
Perhaps one of the lesser known on this list but no less talented, or handsome, is Fess Parker...aka the famous Davy Crockett!  The Great Locomotive Chase, Westward Ho, the Wagons!, Old Yeller, and The Light in the Forest were his other roles under his Disney contract. If you only watch one new-to-you movie from this post watch The Great Locomotive Chase!

Fred MacMurray [1908 - 1991]
Okay, I wasn't putting this in any order but I'm sorry, this guy is my top male Disney actor. Coincidentally he was also the first ever person to be made an official 'Disney Legend'. Man, his IMDB page even starts off by saying he was one of the 'most underrated actor[s] of his generation'!
You'll find him in many Dis-flicks such as:  The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, Son of Flubber, Bon Voyage!, Follow Me, Boys!, The Happiest Millionaire, and Charley and the Angel. Of course that list includes even more of my faves from the 'early days' haha.

Glynis Johns [1923 - ]
This beautiful lady you will most likely know as the Suffragette sensation of Mary Poppins, Winifred Banks! That wasn't her only Disney role though. She also played  Mary Tudor in The Sword and the Rose and Helen Mary MacPherson MacGregor in Rob Roy, the Highland Rogue!

Hayley Mills [1946 - ]
I spilt the beans on my favorite male so have to mention my top female too. Surely it's no suprise that it's Ms Mills?  With practically perfect movies like Pollyanna and The Parent Trap under her belt she's many people from the 50s,60s,70s+ generations favorite aswell. In Search of the Castaways, Summer Magic, The Moon-Spinners, That Darn Cat, The Parent Trap II, The Parent Trap III, The Parent Trap IV: Hawaiian Honeymoon are also part of her filmography.

Johnny Depp [1984 - ]
No comments on this one okay guys? I considered ommitting him for fear of scowls and shouts of 'shame' but he is one of my favorite actors of all time, even outside Disney and I won't censor my opinions for anyone anymore.
He is so versitile going from Captain Jack (POTC series) to the Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass) and even Tonto in The Lone Ranger. I'm not gonna mention when he played the wolf though as I'm sure many regular readers will know that is my most hated Disney movie ever haha.

Robin Williams [1951 - 2014]
:( The saddest part of writing this is having to use the past tense. Robin was a huge part of my childhood and life in general I suppose, shaping much of my sense of humor and such. The Genie from Aladdin is one of his most famous Disney roles but he also made us laugh and smile through movies such as Popeye, Flubber and Old Dogs.
I wrote this post back in 2014 that may help sum up my feelings for this man

Tim Allen [1953 - ]
Tim 'the Tool Man' Taylor,  Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Santa Claus. Just a few names Tim Allen goes by. I don't even like Christmas but Tim's 'The Santa Clause' trilogy are some of my favorite movies ever and certainly wouldn't be what they are without his humor. Other Dis-flicks featuring him are 1997's Jungle 2 Jungle, 2006 remake of The Shaggy Dog and he narrated 2012's documentrary Chimpanzee.

No way did I expect this to end up being such a considerably sized post! It started out as something quick to do as I haven't the time to edit photos this week haha. Little did I know that this would be so many hours later... Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it and I'd love to hear what you think. Are any of your faves on the list?! If not who would you choose? Thanks for being here, see you real soon!

  1. I'm ashamed to say I've only ever heard of the last three on this list! haha But three of which I love! I totally agree about Johnny Depp. I don't think there's an actor out there as versatile as he is!

He really is isn't he?! Some actors always play similar roles or the same genre but he has literally had a shot at everything!

  2. A great list and several actors on here I hadn't even heard of - shamefully - which means I really need to watch some of the older Disney films, and you're right, Robin Williams was just so talented and an all around great person - I remember watching the clip of him meeting Koko the Gorilla and it made me cry! I'm so sad he's gone, because he brought to life so many great characters, and it was a huge loss when he passed away, so yes, completely agree! A great list. - Tasha
