Things I HATE About Summer

FYI, I love Summer. But after writing Things I Hate About Winter (despite it being my least favorite time of year) I thought it only fair I had a moan about our current season aswell. It may seem that I am always moaning, and that's because I am. haha Not really, but yeah. I have seen a heck of a lot of people posting not so happy things on social media since the warmer days arrived which perplexes me but I've had my thinking cap on a realized the things about Summer that don't make me extatic...here they are...

Flying Satans
Butterflies are evil and summer is peak butterfly season :( If you didn't know, they are actually my biggest fear alongside moths.
Theres flies too, who annoy me more than wasps even, which is a feat I'm sure you'll agree. They just, I dunno are annoying! Even Baker despises them and gets upset when one gets in the house ha. I guess at least they don't pose a possible risk of stinging like with wasps but I still hate the blighters.

Parties
This is a 24/7, year round type of deal for me but it is so much worse in the summer. Better weather seems to make people drink more, BBQ and generally be loud and jovial. I am not into all that noise. I go to bed early for work 7 days a week and when people are carrying on until 2am on a Wednesday night it irks me a bit. I never complain (confrontation = no) but in the phrase sense, I can't complain about weekend parties because, well, weekend. I still hate them though.

Hayfever
If you know, you know.

Kids
Aha, that sounds awful. But really, the start of the summer holidays is the absoulte worst time of the year. They are everywhere, they are loud, they are constantly outside, on public transport and busying up places that would usually be quiet havens on weekdays. There are even places/things that cost more during the holidays. Urgh. Kids on a whole are different these days too and I'm not tarring them all with the same brush but many are much older than their years now, are rude, loud and just annoying to be fair. Don't get me wrong there are good ones too before you get all offended, you must know the ones I'm talking about though...

Fashion Fever
Well not fashion per say! That would be a joke as I'm not into fashion. By this I mean you never know what to wear for what weather. Will it be thunder storms and so you'll need a rain coat? Will it be blazing sunshine and you'll be too hot in jeans? Maybe both in the same day! Especially in my town. I don't care what the weather is but I'd like to know which weather it's gonna be so I can dress appropiratly.

Holiday Maker Take-Over
If you live in a seaside town or tourist attracting city, summer brings an influx of slow walking, confused as to where they are, stopping in the middle of the street to take a photo holiday makers! They are fab bringing money and jobs into the town but when you just want to pop into Iceland for a loaf of bread but a family of 5 with kids on scooters and blocking up the tiny isles it can be rather inconvenient.

Light Nights
I never know the bloomin' time because the sky is awake far too late. I'm in bed before the sun and shes already up when I get up for work between 5-6. Does she just not need sleep in summertime? Have a rest girl!

That's it! I can't think of anything else, though really for a season I like 7 things is still a lot of hate! I wanna know all about your hates of summer too so write a couple down in the comments...and not just 'the heat' because duh.

  1. Haha Fashion Fever, I love that! Agreed, so far every day of my holiday has been sunshine, pouring rain, drizzle and heavy winds... how am I meant to dress for that?!

    1. Right?! It's so sweaty with my rain coat on but otherwise I'll get soaked!

  2. I can't understand the slow walking. I can't stand it either, especially in supermarkets. That happens at my local shop in the weekend too. It's a supermarket, let's finish fast and enjoy other things. :))
I love butterflies, I can't believe you call them evil. :P Luckily our neighbours don't party often, so it's not something annoying for me.

    1. Oh right?! Life is too short to dawdle in fast paced environments :P
haha I hate them! Blurgh!! Though I know people who hate birds and I can't imagine that. Mine don't either to be fair. I have an old lady nextdoor. ha

  3. Oh my gosh, I HATE Summer. Give me Autumn/Winter any day. The sun hurts my eyes, because I'm really photosensitive. I have a phobia of getting sweaty, so the hot Summer days are a nightmare for me. And don't even get me started on the butterfly problem! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. Oh bless you! I hope we don't get any more heatwaves for you!
I have issues with light sensitivity too due to all the time I spent in darkrooms as a teen (developing photos)so I wear sunglasses even in winter!

  4. Summer is my least favourite season... Largely because of the severe hayfever I have suffered from since the age of 3, and to make matters worse, I'm actually allergic to one of the main ingredients in most antihistamines. Fun! Not!

    1. Oh no! That sounds awful. :( Is there nothing at all you can take to relieve the symptoms? I live on Piriton. My dog even has hayfever which is so sad - I wish I could take it for him.

  5. Urgh Hayfever is the worst! I don't seem to get it now as badly as when I was younger, but then the odd day is just awful!
Also agree on butterflies, fashion,... just about everything really! I'm just glad I get to avoid the tourists as there's not many that come to Bradford on their summer holidays!

    1. Not the most fun thing eh? Oh I was terrible when I was young. Now its mainly itchy eyes and constant sneezing. Poor Baker suffers with it too and I wish I could just take it away from him.

Ahaha I'll send them from Berwick to Bradford ;)

  6. Oh hayfever! If I was able to find the magical cure for it I'd give it away freely to all sufferers as I know how much of a pain it is. I love being outdoors and when it's the height of summer I've sometimes had to go back in just to get some relief from the high pollen count - it's the only big downside to this time of year for me, that and that really oppressive, sticky heat that we get over here - never fun! - Tasha

    1. Bad isn't it?! Poor Baker even suffers with it! The heat doesn't usually bother me too much thankfully!
