Things I HATE About the Internet

Woah, it's been since July since I got hateful and moaned about some irrelevant rubbish no one cares about. I'm pretty sure it's not just me who has a love / hate with technology and especially, the subject of today's post, the internet. Now before we get properly into it I know there are some truely terrible things on the internet but this is a jokey kinda post...none of that deep, dark, disgusting stuff...the fact that I hate that is implied. Here we go.

'Grab a Cuppa & Get Comfy'.
I really don't know why but it nerks me so much haha. I have clicked the 'X' straight away more than once when I have heard/read that. Don't tell me what to do! I don't drink hot drinks. Maybe I want to eat my ice cream and sit uncomfortably with my dog half on top of me.

Pop up 'Sign up to Our Newsletters'.
Those with hidden close buttons specifically. These also makes me click off websites imeddiatly. I don't do newsletters. If I did love your company (or blog or whatever) so much as to want a newsletter, I'd go out of my way to take the 2 seconds to click a link at the bottom of the page or in a banner.

Mis-clicks.
As in when you go to click a blog link on Twitter but the feed sudden refreshes and you click sometime completely different loosing the original link.
Or, trying to browse a shopping website and as you attempt to open one thing a pop down menu or whatever stealth attacks you into looking in an opposing category.

Vehicles/Children/Animals as Display Pictures. This isn't you!
Unless 2017 Astras with blacked out windows and crap rims can use facebook now. And I know how much we love our pets and children but it isn't their account either - have a photo of you with them in that case! If you hate how you look, like me, make it a photo from a fancy dress event, taken futher away or with sunglasses...like me ;)!

Newsletter Emails You Never Signed Up To.
I know it's about newsletters again, but really this!! Especially with having a separate blog email I find so many random things in my inbox that I certainly never signed up for myself. Hmm...!

Social Media Spoilers.
Twitter is the absolute worst for people 'live tweeting' and completely ruining whole programmes or movies in less than 140 characters.  To those that say ''well watch it when it comes out and you won't have it spoiled for you'' - shut up. Not all of us have a cinema in our towns, or sky and stuff.

Phew! Glad that's off my chest :) If I switched to my thinking cap I'd probably roll out another 10+ items for this list but limiting the negativity could be better here.
Let me know your internet hates in the comments! Nothing too serious though please haha.

  1. I hate pop-ups too. Not so much the rest. I love hot drinks, the dog sleeps on his vetbed, I don't think people live-tweeting are spoiling anything. It's my choice to watch it on demand or 2 months after the release. I'm not bothered by avatars with children/pets, although I might have no idea how the person looks like. My FB avatar is me in a car, so I'm not very visible. But I do hate those pop-ups! I wish there was a way not to see anything pop-up, never, never, never.

  2. I feel bad now...I quite often say "grab a cuppa and get comfy." I only use it as filler, though, when I really can't think of another way to open the post/end the intro. And because that's how I usually enjoy blog posts. But however people want to enjoy mine is fine! I also have pop-up newsletter subs, but the X, should be, very visible so it's easy to click out of as one of the things that annoys me the most is not being able to click off one!! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

    1. Oh Aimee!! I'm so sorry...I didn't mean to upset anyone :( It's just a joke, really. I can't even think that I've seen that on your blog anyway. I mainly meant it towards videos. So sorry.

  3. I'm defo guilty of the first one haha. With my blog name 'Tea in the Tub' I feel I can get away with telling people to grab a cup. Next time I'll suggest grabbing a fluffy animal instead.
I do hate the pop ups telling me to sign up and I have clicked off the site rather than spending half my life trying to find the tiny x.

  4. I'll admit... I used 'Grab a cuppa and sit back' once or twice, haha. But I completely agree on you about pop up newsletter sign ups and people using cars as their profile pictures... especially cars! I get more annoyed at cars than kids or animals.

  5. Oh pop-ups are such a pain, and they seem to have multiplied in the last couple of years and now they're on so many websites! The other thing I'm not keen on is the new adverts that seem to be cropping up on Facebook and Twitter - some are relevant, but others are so far removed from what I like or am interested in that I don't know how their algorithm for these things works! The spoilers thing is one of the reasons I try to stay off of Twitter during certain times, but I've also heard that apparently you can mute certain words on Twitter if you're trying to avoid spoilers or certain topics, but I haven't tried it myself or looked into it too much, but there's some information here as I've been wondering about trying this out myself, if that helps! https://support.twitter.com/articles/20175032 Loved this one as it gave me a giggle too! - Tasha

    1. I just don't understand why they make the 'x' so hard to find! I'm not wasting my life looking for 'x's, I'm just gonna click off altogether!
Yeah the whole cookies/targeted ads in general makes me uneasy...like big brother is watching, not a fan of all that. And because I used to watch a lot of family vloggers I always got ads about pregnancy tests and stuff :/
