Actors You Didn't Know Voiced Disney Characters

I dunno about you but when a new Disney animation comes out I try hard not to watch trailers, look into who is in it and so on, too much. So what I love is being at the cinema and picking out voices I recognize. There are some huge names that score voice acting roles in these classics, many of which we are all aware of but there are also a few that slip my attention!
Below is a list of Disney animated classic movies that have actors in them that suprised me when I first realized...

Moana (2016)
Nicole Scherzinger: Sina
Notably the main name for this movie was Dwayne Johnson who killed the role of Maui, but another 'big name' was Nicole Scherzinger who voiced Moana's Mother!

 Zootopia (2016)
Jason Bateman: Nick Wilde
We all know who Jason Bateman is (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief, Juno) but I had no idea until recently that he was the fiesty fox in Zootopia! :O

 Tangled (2010)
Ron Perlman: Stabbington Brother
Keeping up with his bad-guy persona, Perlman of Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy and so much more makes a little appearance in Tangled alongside Mandy Moore.

 Bolt (2008)
Chloë Grace Moretz: Young Penny
It's common knowledge that Miss Miley Cyrus voices Penny in Bolt but did you know the equally as awesome Chloë Grace Moretz is young Penny?

 Chicken Little (2005)
Joan Cusack: Abby Mallard
After re-watching Chicken Little once I knew Abby was voiced by Joan Cusack, I have no idea how I never heard it to begin with.

 Home on the Range (2004)
Judi Dench: Mrs. Calloway
Thee Judi Dench. As a cow. Enough said.

 Brother Bear (2003)
Rick Moranis: Rutt
Rutt the Canadian Moose's voice is actually that of Rick Moranis. You might not recognzie the name if you were born after like 1995, but Rick was in many awesome 80's movies such as Ghostbusters, The Flinstones and Disney's Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise!

 Treasure Planet (2002)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Jim Hawkins
Over the past 5 years I have fallen in love with JGL as an actor so when I learnt that Tommy from 3rd Rock from the Sun and Jim Hawkins were the same person my mind was blown!

 Mulan (1998)
George Takei: First Ancestor
Yaasss George Takei!!!

 Hercules (1997)
Danny DeVito: Phil
I guess this one is a little bit of a cheat because who doesn't know that Danny D is Phil! He (in the nicest way possible) even resembles his human counterpart.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Demi Moore: Esmeralda
I'm not even embarrased that I only found this out when looking for extra people to add to this list lol!

 The Lion King (1994)
Jonathan Taylor Thomas: Young Simba
So this is a one I've known since I was old enough to know about voice actors and everything but I thought a few people wouldn't know. FYI, for fellow 90s kids, Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the heart throb of Home Improvment.

 The Rescuers Down Under (1990)
John Candy: Wilbur
Thee John Candy, who also acted in Disney's Cool Runnings, was one of my favorite actors so it was super cool to picture him as an eccentric seagull.

 Oliver & Company (1988)
Joey Lawrence: Oliver
Is there a theme of teen heart throbs fronting Disney cat movies?! Like Jonathan TT, Joey Lawrence has been in other Disney movies (A Goofy movie, Horse Sense) as well as Touchstone's Blossom.

The Fox and the Hound (1981)
Mickey Rooney: Tod
There isn't too much can be said when taking about such a legend. Of course at around 60 when the movie came out he actually voiced 'adult' Tod and not the cub.

So there we go, I hope you can make me fell like less of a bad fan and let me know that there are at least one or two on the list you didn't know about! A lot of them did come out when I was a child so I didn't care to find out 'who Simba was' and such until I was quite a bit older.
Who are your favorite famous Disney voice actors??

  1. I am never gonna unhear them!! Especially George Takei! 😂😂

    1. Haha right?! It's all I can see with some of them. Especially like Robin Williams as Genie and Josh Gad as Olaf!
