Weekly Wondering // Week 44

'Sup yo.
For the explanation of what is going on here, please do click here and have a quick read.
Other than that, in short, I am answering 7 of these 365 thought-provoking questions each week until I complete the year. I already did this in 2013 and am revisiting them to compare my answers.

What simple gesture have you recently witnessed that renewed your hope in humanity?
There aren't really too many in my town, especially at this time of year where no one can even say the words 'excuse me' in place of pushing past people. I'm not sure if it properly counts but I thought it was proper cool that our local pets at home are 'selling' Christmas dinners for a local ex-racing Greyhound shelter! It felt amazing to buy 10 dogs their dinners yesterday and to think how many tummies will be filled and how much money will be raised by people being able to add on the donation while checking out.

What is your favourite smell?
I like things like nature smells, so living by the sea I like to smell that (even the seaweed) and although so many people think I'm weird...I quite like the smell of manure on the farms haha.
When it comes to in the home I like either clean things like lemon and warming/cosy things like gingerbread depending on what room I'm in!

What recent memory makes you smile the most?
Oh gosh...too many. Today, in particular, the dogs I met and gave treats to while out and about, and Baker's excitement when putting on his new jumper. Are you surprised it's all dog focused? You shouldn't be.
Ooooh and the young female Blackbird that has greeted me almost every morning at 6am on my way to work.

In one word, how would you describe your childhood?
Perfect. (Childhood = before teen years...then it changed to hell.)

What celebrities do you admire?  Why?
Pink - for her animal-rights activism and campaigning for PETA as well as her support of the LGBT community and numerous other charities. Also, she is obviously insanely talented and stands for the 'alternative', being beautiful without following the conventional way of being.
Leonardo DiCaprio - I've never been the hugest fan of his movies (I like them, but he's not a fave) but his environmental activism is so important and insanely inspirational. He also supports and donates a lot to many other good causes including animal issues.
Ellen DeGeneres - this one really doesn't need an explanation. I wish I could do what she does for people.
Walt Disney - Duh! If you don't know his life story, look it up and you can't not admire someone who created such an empire from humble beginnings.

There are more I could talk about but I thought I'd stick with 4 so as not to overkill the post.

What is the number one motivator in your life right now?
I really couldn't tell you to be fair...because I don't know myself.

What music do you listen to to lift your spirits when you’re feeling down?
Right now it's anything by Ru Paul. I walk to work and as soon as any of those tracks come on I immediately start sissy-ing that walk lol!

Make sure to look back on this same post from 2013/14 here, and see the differences in my answers! (I completed writing this before checking back to my old answers by the way). You can also see the series in whole from last time here and of course last week's Weekly Wondering here.

  1. Love your answers for the celebrities you admire, completely agree with you! Love the shot of the blackbird with this post too, and I am the same as you, I love those smells from the outdoors and nature - especially that fresh scent after it's rained! - Tasha
