Countdown to Disney 2018 // The Low Down

138 Days
19 Weeks, 5 Days
4.5 Months

It's never that time again eh? I'm afraid it is! I am so incredibly lucky that I manage to work hard and save to go on these magical trips. I know some people wonder how/why I go semi-regularly however just think about it this way... Many families go on an annual holiday, be it a week at Centre Parks or a fortnight in Alcudia. I haven't done that since I was 13 and have since only had 5 trips abroad (4 to Disney) and I'm now 27.

People also often ask why I am 'only going to Disneyland Paris' rather than the US go to of WDW (do these people also forget about the original Disneyland in California?), as if it's so much lesser of an option. The number of times I've heard 'Oh it's so much cheaper to go to Florida', 'Which Disneyland? Florida or Paris?...Oh, only Paris?', 'You should go to the proper Disney instead', 'You could afford to go to WDW for the same price you pay for Disneyland Paris'...and so on and so forth. I won't even get into every flaw in those statements.
Yes, I probably could save and go to the US but no, it would most certainly not be the same or cheaper than what I pay for my DLP holidays. Yes, Paris is my first choice and it always will be but no, it is not a budget version or lesser in any way except size.

In 138 days I will be back in one of the only places that heal me. My anxiety is soothed immensely and I can relax, be myself, feel safe and enjoy time with amazing people. This trip is by far my most exciting as an adult so far too because my Dad is coming. I can't tell you how over the moon I am that Mam, Dad and I are going to be back in Disneyland together after 21 years, 8 months and seeing as it's such a special trip, I'm bringing Countdown to Disney back!

For anyone going, 'eh?' right now, Countdown to Disney is a little series I have run before my main DLP trips over the past few years (2014 & 2016, but not 2017 as it was a tiny 2-day visit) to document my planning and stuff. I'm an overly organized person who plans my trips intricately!
You can check out my previous ones here to get a taste of it if you fancy :P

This is the first post (duh!!) in this year's series and so this is the general low down.

The party consists of Mam, Dad, Kerri and I.

We are going in June! My first ever June visit!
(I've previously been in Feb,Mar,May,Oct,Nov & Dec)

Kerri and I are staying at Hotel New York & my parents will be at the Cheyenne.
(I've previously stayed in the Santa Fe x 2, Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge & Disneyland Hotel)

Of course, we are getting there via Eurostar as I don't fly!

And the posts you can expect in this series are: a Ride Hitlist, a Meet and Greet Wishlist, My Shopping List, a trip Bucket List and What's in My Luggage, so keep an eye out and if you'd like to know anything else about my Disney planning or the topics I've just listed please do send me some comments and I may do a little Q&A if I get enough.

  1. Ooo... I look forward to tagging along in the prepping process - the prep & plan for a trip is such a fun time, and I bet even more so as this is a special one with your Dad going too.
